I heard you can only go to the early show if you use it for say lunch, but we would like to go to the second show. Does which pkg we get affect that? I know sci fi gives you the app or dessert and the entree - do you get both app and dessert at hbd?
I will book the package at Hollywood and Vine if I have the dining plan because it is a great use of a table service credit since the package is $81 for an adult.

I just booked for end of September (first time doing the package) and I booked “dinner” but was still given “first show.” Do they always have two showings of Fantasmic?

No, some nights are 1 show and some nights are 2 shows. But I think the dining package is only for the 1st show regardless. I spot checked trying to book some dates that have 2 shows listed and the package was only available for 1st show, there didn't seem to be an option for 2nd show.

AFAIK the dining packages have always only ever been for the first showtime during nights when there’s two. Bear in mind they don’t always have two shows a night and it’s generally only during busier times of the year.
But tbqh if you are going when they have 2 shows and want to go to the second F! show the dining package is wholly unnecessary. It’s very easy to just roll up right before showtime and get good seats with little effort. The overwhelming majority of guests go to the first show on 2 show nights.
