OT - Six Flags New England

We live in Massachusetts, and unfortunately aren't planning our next Disney trip soon enough.

We're doing some closer day trips this summer, and already have discount tickets through DH's work to Six Flags, which is about 2 hours from us. My question is when to go - a Saturday, staying over near the park, or a weekday, driving out and back?

For anyone who has been recently or lives near there - how much worse are the crowds on weekends? Is it a better to go on a Saturday, and be able to stay later, or to go on an weekday, but have to leave earlier?

(If you have other favorite tips, feel free to share.)

Hi! I am sorry I dont have any tips but am keeping my eye on this thread, I have two trips planned to Six Flags, one with kids and one with my best friend ( So I can do what I want for a change!!)

We really have enjoyed the times we spent at Six Flags Massachussetts. We have sixflag season passes so we try to check different ones out when we can. Our home six flags is The Great Escape. I would suggest going on the weekday if possible to avoid the crowds in the water park, when we were there last time the water park was way over crowded and that was a Saturday.. We camp at Sodum Mountain, its affordable yet a descent distance to the park. We don't do Disney every year either so we like to hunt out nice family spots in the NY, New England Area.. Have fun, enjoy your time at the park with your family.

Hi. We live about 45 minutes away for SFNE and always have made it a day trip. I've been going since it was Riverside and have never known anyone to make a 2 day thing out of it. Definitly do not go on a weekend. They are crazy. Unless you buy their version of a FastPass you will wait 2+ hours to get on things like Superman or Batman, or even smaller rides. If you can get there on a random weekday it's much better. My DS is 18 months and love the new Wiggles section (Thomas the Train wasn't open yet when we went in June). Also, as far as I'm aware, they don't have a baby swap option like Disney. The hospital I work at gets tix for $25, which is the most I'll pay to get in. Parking is $15, but if you live near a AAA office, they sell a pass for $12. Any questions please feel free to ask. Hope this helps!

Definately don't do a weekend we have season passes to SFNE and go once a week usually in the evening actually going up today we hit a few of the rides we have a 2 year old and a 4 year old take some snacks occasionally we will go for the day but during the weekdays mostly on a really hot day so we can go to the waterpark first then hit the rides when it gets cooler the weekends are horrible big lines the waterpark is packed with people and just difficult to do anything all and all always a really good time

I really have no choice but to do my "grownup" day on a Saturday. I'll make sure the kids go on a weekday.

I am willing to pay for a fastpass thingie, anyone tried it? Does it shorten your wait by a lot?

Another vote for a weekday here. We went at the end of June and got there for opening. It was great...the kids got to do everything they wanted with hardly any waiting at all, and they were ready to leave by 3:30 or so. We got really good parking near the tram, too.
