OT: Should the DIS get a VMK "community" board?

Here's something for the mods/admins to think about; wheter there should be a "Community" board for VMKers.

Although it could be argued that there is no need for a "community" board for VMKers, as we already have community boards already, it can also be argued that there are minimal people who do go to the cyrrent community board and post. VMKers tend to stay on the VMK board (except of myself, who posts on the UK board from time to time)

By a "Community" board I mean something where VMKers can post and talk about off-topic things. For example, the weather, what's on TV etc.

I have many friends on this board, who don't often see my posts on the other boards. I think this is the case for most people, otherwise they wouldn't post off-topic things on this board.

Another factor in this is the age difference in the community board. Many people on the Community boards are older than the people on the VMK board (VMK is for kids after all)

Anyway, I thought I would post and see what everyone thought about this idea before it's made official/scrapped.

I was only asking for opinions PrinceLegolas! It's up to the Admins/Mods to decide if they should create a VMK community board!

The VMK boards already are a community board. If you notice, people post about their days and what they received from Santa. The only separate board is the one for trades/wishes.

It is important to remember that altough this VMK board is the main board for a lot of people, it is only one section of the larger DIS. We can't expect the VMK boards to be treated as its own board with all these different subsection. If there was a separate board, they would need more moderators to be sure that posts were monitored (as you mentioned, these boards are frequented by children) and there just aren't enough eyes to go around.

I'm just grateful that the DIS was able to recognize its VMK community and honor it with the boards that we have now.

Good point.. We can't expect Mal to do everything!

I do agree with your points, but there are Vigilantes who post here saying "this is the VMK board, what does _____ have to do with VMK?". For Example, when I posted about eggs awhile ago there were people who did say that.

The mods could always recruite more people, and I have seen the occasion Admin post here too!

Anyways, just speculating opinions is all!

THIS IS the VMK Community board! You may post any thing you like here with in guidelines

No need to post to an off topic thread....If you notice the VMK board is under the heading "JUST FOR FUN" and we realize that alot of posters here on the VMK boards do not venture to other parts of the DIS....and you do not have to if you don't want to.

The only VMK board that we ask that you pretty much stay on topic on is the trade/wish board.


Oh and by the way there are two moderators here on the VMK boards not one LoriR or MickeysMagic and me....We are also fortunate to have several WebMasters Aeryn(DisAeryn), Kelsie(Ivyco), Alex(DisAlex) and several Moderators from other forums one of which Dagny(Pixie-Stick) who all play VMK and can usually be found hanging out on the VMK boards.

So all that say I am closing this thread because it is redundant(not needed).
