We are going as a group on Sunday to Sesame Place. Rather then trying to find a new date all 12 of us can go we are just going ahead and hoping it doesn't rain the entire day.

If it does...is there anything else in the area to do? Most of us are driving 1hr 20mins from NJ, but a girlfriend and her family are coming in from WV, staying overnight in lancaster on saturday and heading to the place on Sunday. Big bummer for them if its a rain out.

Any suggestions of nearby fun would be appreciated!

We are planning a trip to go in july as well. There are other things to do in the area. There is the please touch museum and the crayola factory.they both look really nice to do.I hope this helps some, have a great time!!

I live right down the street and there is a mall right behind Sesame Place and many restaurants. Nearby there is a Bounce U which is fun. The city has the Please Touch Museum which is about 45 minutes away. The Crayola Factory is fun but really crowded and about a little over an hour away.

Hope this helps

One year when we went it rained. We ended up going to the Philly Aquarium which was horrid since it was early June & there were all the school groups there..how did we know..our oldest was just over 2.

We also went to the mall & Target, how exciting but it was just our family.

I swear I heard something about a swing set place that is indoor & they sell swing sets but they also do one of those come in & play deals too. I am not sure if it was in that area or else where in the US.

Thank you for all your suggestions...I guess I am liking the aquarium idea more then anything else...although I do not know what Bounce U is..I will look it up.

Me, Brother and the friend all have 14-18 month olds so i think crayola and even please touch will be beyond them...aquarium is looking good...

I live nearby.

Please Touch is perfect for 18 month old!

The Aquarium is actually in Camden NJ, so if doing web search you'll need to know that.

The Academy of Natural History is really good too! (Center City Philly). It is great for an 18 month old -- Live Butterfly exhibit & place to dig for dinosaur bones. The Academy is often overshadowed by Franklin Institute. The Academy is smaller exhibit space, but set up much nicer for the very little one (easier to manover strollers & easier to let a toddler walk around)

Bounce U is a warehouse sized play center loaded with many moon bounces. Kids love it. For younger ones there is a place with the same premise called Bouncing Off The Walls.

I like the Aquarium idea. I haven't been there yet, but I've heard it's really nice. Crayola Factory (in Allentown I believe) and the Please Touch Museum are also both lots of fun for small kids, too.

One option that hasn't been mentioned yet is Chocolate World in Hershey, but I would go with the Aquarium if most of you are coming from NJ anyway.

I love the Aquarium, I have been a few times you can spend most of the day there. The Crayola Factory is fun too, but a ride from Philly. If it's a nice day but too cold to get wet you can go to the Zoo, Franklin Institute and the Liberty Bell. I am sure you can find something to do so close to Philadelphia. Both of my girls loved Sesame place as toddlers and elementary school age kids. Remember to bring the hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes with you. Those ball crawl things get pretty nasty with all diaper wearing kids in them.

please touch museum is awesome, but if it's a rainy day it'll be nuts, that's what happened to us last year. but it's still really fun for kids.
