OT: Serious fashion question!!

Yesterday DH and I found some incredible deals on shoes at a store that is going out of business. I have a hard time finding tennis shoes that fit me well, and I found THREE pairs!! But two of them are the "mule" style. You know, not a full back. They are very comfy, but here's my fashion dilemma: Do I wear socks with them, or not? With tennies, I typically wear the very low ankle type socks. So it's not like I'd be wearing black knee socks or anything! I don't know that socks look all that great with these, but then I'm thinking-walk around all day at DTD (or anywhere, for that matter) in tennies, with no socks?!? I need some fashion expertise!

I think the low socks are okay. I wear them all the time and my daughters, aka the fashion police, allow it. I got caught in a rain shower at DTD and took off my socks, and I got a blister in just a half an hour. So I vote for socks.

Socks it is, then!! I'm glad to know the fashion police approve! My next trip (sans DH and DS, they're soooo jealous!) is with a friend in less than two weeks. We're not going into the parks, just doing a girls' shopping/eating weekend... but we'll still be doing a lot of walking. I was really worried about shoes til I found these yesterday. Now I know I (hopefully) won't embarrass my friend with my socks!

As a person with a fashion degree, I say no socks. Sorry. I think if you had on long pants it would look fine, but I would not wear socks with a mule type shoe with shorts or capris. MHO

They do make those half socks that cover your toes and about halfway up your foot that might work. They wouldn't show and you'd still have something.

I have a pair of crocs, which I personally think are a little ridiculous looking, but they are AWESOME! The are bright pink and I wear them absolutely EVERYWHERE! (I even forgot and wore them to church last week ). Especially when on vacation, it is all about the comfort. Do what is comfortable and dont worry about who is looking at your feet!

I would have to say no socks, maybe with long pants but not shorts. It isn't as bad as men in sandals and socks (yuck!) but then again, nothing is worse then that.

Sorry, but the socks would look exteremly silly. I wouldn't do it. But having said that, it's WDW and there I worry about comfort and not fashion. I always wear the same pair of cross trainers I walk 3.5 miles in everyday (at the parks) regardless of whatever else I'm wearing. OK, depending on weather it's just shorts or jeans so it doesn't look "off", but still... I'd rather know my body isn't going to give out or I'll have a ton of blisters than look acceptable to the fashion police.

That's what I was going to suggest. I wear them a lot with my mule style loafers, and they are GREAT!

To all you fashion degreed police: I have white Nike mules, and they don't look silly with socks. I wear them with or without socks, and either way works. I wouldn't do that with my black Mary Jane mules, but I'm going to assume that's not what you're thinking of doing either. Mules, like other shoes, have a broad range of dressiness. I have a few pairs that are tennies, some with laces. You wear socks with tennies, then why not when they're mules. They still are tennies. When it's all said and done, you have to do whatever is necessary to keep those feet comfy. There are way too many women looking ridiculous/revolting with too little clothing on and too many figure flaws hanging way the heck out for your socks with mules combo to get much, if any, scrutiny.
