For those of you that have taken the ladder away be careful, because when we were kids we had bunk beds and just climbed up without the ladder. Most kids don't need the ladder to climb!

We have bunk beds but we didn't allow our son to sleep in the top bunk until he turned seven. I think that's what the instructions on the beds stated. I'm so sorry for those parents (of the girl and the friend).

Very very sad story...

To funny now bunk beds comes with age for kids to sleep on top bunk?

The set I have is VERY VERY sturdy did not come with a ladder climb up the end to get to top bunk. Top rail goes from head of bed to the foot an is not removeable it has 4 bolts holding it in place that is 6 inches long. Bought those beds in 1980 or 81 they not been used as bunk beds since 83 when my DD's stopped sharing a room but those beds are still going strong had to replace mattress on them but other than that they going STRONG
