okay I understand your trying to sell your product. I get that your not gong to take a big no from me, but do you REALLY REALLY think your going to talk me into doing a 30 day trial for your service and expect me to recommend to my boss to keep it when the conversation goes like this

me - Well I understand we get 30 days to try it, but I am going on vacation in 2 weeks, for 2 weeks so I can't even evaluate the trial until after I get back.

SP - well the trial is for 30 days, and your on vacation for two weeks. We will email you weekly, and monthly so you won't forget.

me - look in two weeks I go on vacation and will be out of the office for two weeks. I won't be able to evaluate until after the trial period and I don't want charges.

sp - well those charges won't kick in until after the 30 days and you will have plenty of time to see the benefits of the service.

me - no I won't see I leave for vacation in two weeks, the end of this month, and I will be out of the office for two weeks the end of your 30 days. I won't be able to evaluate anything until my return.

sp - well won't you get email on your "vacation"

me - Not really, I don't want to be WORKING on my VACATION.. um got to go client waiting..

hang up

:listen:I answer phones at a law office for a living...IMO, you gave him too much of your time!

If this ever happens again, don't stop after "... get back." Continue IMMEDIATELY with, "Give me your phone number and I will call you when I will have thirty consecutive days to evaluate your product."

You should have asked him when he will be on vacation so you can call him then about the trial offer. :rotfl2:

I have a horrible time with sales people at my office too. I've tried flat saying 'I don't have time for this,' and they keep right on going. It's frustrating but the most effective thing seems to be to let them run through their pitch and THEN say no. I wish they'd just take the 'no' when I tell them off the bat I'm not interested.

I'm lucky... I have no authority whatsoever... and when I do get a call (for my boss) I just route it to vm. :) At home... I talk over the sales person - say not interested and hang up... Tough job, but some are sooooo rude.

I would have told him that when I'm interested in the product, I will call him. I dislike pushy salespeople also. Unfortunately for them, they have a "production job" meaning, if they don't produce $$$, they're out the door. They have daily, weekly, and monthly quotas and I can imagine it must be very stressful. I've done a job like this in the past and will never do it again. I was always a top producer (even beating out full time people when I was part time) but it still wasn't my thing and I dreaded everyday I had to go to work.

From what I have heard, you have to say NO three times and then telemarketers back off. They are just reading from a script and following their company rules.

Although I got into it once with someone from Nescafe about installing a beverage center in my office. I said we weren't interested but the guy kept insisting on coming in to go over their services even though I kept saying no. He tried to convince me that it will only take up five minutes of my time. I said, "I can't get you off the phone in less then 5 minutes, I don't think I'd be able to get you out of my office." :rotfl:
