Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie passed away last night after having a massive stroke on Jan.29. I love this show and I always loved watching Phil.

We therefore commit his body to the deep, to be turned into corruption, looking for the resurrection of the body, when the Sea shall give up her dead, and the life of the world to come, through our Lord Jesus Christ; who at his coming shall change our vile body, that it may be like his glorious body, according to the mighty working, whereby he is able to subdue all things to himself. Amen

That is so sad. :sad1: I love the show and he will definitely be missed. I feel so bad for his kids and the rest of the Cornelia Marie crew.

Very sad. Loved watching Phil. He lived his life the way he wanted.

RIP Captain Phil. He will be missed. I feel for his family, but after seeing his demeanor after his issue last year, I think he is more at peace this way. If he had to give up fishing, it probably would have killed his spirit. A close family member of mine went quickly like this when facing serious health issues that were going to end many of the things he loved. It was hard on us, but we realized it was better for him to not have to live without his passions. I would not have wanted to see his heart broken when his body would not allow him to do what his heart needed.

Prayers for Captain Phil's family and the rest of the Deadliest Catch team.

I was very sad to hear about this this morning. He lived doing what he loved and I think, how many of us can truly say that. My heart goes out to his son and familiy, you could always tell that they had much love and respect for their dad.

Totally true.

I was so sad to hear about this yesterday. Sending love and prayers to his family and the other captains from Deadliest Catch.

I also love Deadliest Catch! DH and I got sucked into a marathon during our midafternoon breaks from Disneyland over 4th of July weekend and were hooked! Talk about men who do a job that no one else in the world (or right mind!) would dream of doing!! I wonder how long I'd last on one of those boats! (About 10 minutes!)

I always loved hearing about the Cornelia Marie and the relationship that Phil had with his boys. He'd been plagued with heart and health problems for some time. It kept him from fishing and you could tell he hated it!

And on the lighter side, if the series host, Mike Rowe, is grieving, I'd be happy to comfort him! :lovestruc

We were sad to hear of his passing as well. This is a show our whole family loves to watch. After his health issues last year, I guess this is not unexpected and he was very clear about not wanting to be sidelined. So, I hope there is some solace in that for his family.

I had been following his progress since his stroke (being a huge DC fan and also my mom is a stroke survivor) and was so hopeful with the progress he had been making. So sad, I really feel for his sons. The show won't be the same without him - the Cornelia Marie was a crazy boat!!

I agree. Seeing what is happing to my mother after her stroke and not being able to do what she's love's to do.

This is one of my DH and my favorite shows and were so sad to hear of his passing.
I feel so bad for his sons, they seemed to be really close to their dad.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
