Sorry to be jumping in so late but I was on vacation. Massachusetts has a Rehabilitation Commission whose objective is to find you a job or help you keep your job. Does CA have anything like it? I think if you found a volunteer job you could find out how much stamina you have and what you could tolerate in regards to hours you can work and still feel well. Also volunteer jobs are counted on a resume. The same for going back to school. This will test your stamina and may lead to networking.
I'm fortunate that I have been able to adjust my hours at my job. I used to be a 30hour/week employee now I'm down to 12. But I get out of the house 3 days a week! That's what's important to me.
Good Luck
