I have been in search for a carseat for DD. I think I have decided on the Britax Marathon since it will go rear facing then forward up to 65 lbs. I have read many reviews online and I'm concerned with the size. I've heard that's it's really a large seat. We have an 2006 Honda Odyssey, will this carseat fit rear facing behind the drivers seat? Anyone with an Odyssey and the Britax Marathon? Any problems?

Can you drive to a local store that sells them? They should allow you to try the seat out in your car before actually purchasing it.

If you'll be putting her on the side, behimd the driver's seat, have you considered the Britax Boulevard? It's pretty much the same as the marathon in regards to height and weight limits but has side impact protection and unlike the marathon you can adjust the harness height with a side adjuster knob instead of having to rethread the straps from the back. Just thought I'd mention that in case you weren't aware.

We do have a Marathon, but not an Oddessy. We love the Britax seats! I don't think you would have a problem fitting it in your van. I know Babies R Us carries them in their stores and our BRU has a mini-van bench seat in the store to show you how seats fit. Try there.

We have a 2004 Odyssey and two Marathons. They fit fine both rear and front facing. :thumbsup2

(They are in the captain chairs in the second row).

Love our Marathons!

Our friends just bought a 2006 Odyssey a few weeks ago and they use a Marathon for their 7 month old. No problem w/ it fitting.

Thanks so much for the replies. The closest BRU is about 45 minutes away. I'm glad to hear that it will fit okay. I think I'm going to go ahead and order it.

You definitely won't have any problems. I have a Britax Boulevard which is the same size as the MA and it fits rear-facing in my Hyundai Santa Fe. There is much more room in the middle row of my parent's Odyssey.

You didn't say how old your dd is but as they get older and have good head and neck control, the more upright the rear-facing seat can be. It only needs to be at a 45 degree angle for infants. Most older babies and toddlers prefer to sit a bit more upright anyway. http://www.carseatsite.com/reclineangle.htm

Just an FYI, I found this site with installation tips for the Odyssey which you might find helpful:

I have read that some people had challenges with tethering their rear-facing Britax's in this car (which is one of the bonuses of having a Britax IMO), and this site addresses that issue.

hth!

ETA: oops, see your siggy now that your dd is 8mos - hopefully that info helps!

There is an online database where people can enter info on how a seat fits in their car. The Marathon got all "green checks" for the Odyssey meaning it fit well for all 25 people that installed one.

Compatability Database

We have a Britax Husky in our 2000 Odyssey. It fits great. When we first put it in the car I thought it looked HUGE! It is a lot bigger than a normal seat. But, now that we're used to it, it seems normal.
