OT - Pulling baby teeth?

I had 5 teeth pulled when I was a kid to prep my mouth for braces and now my DD6 was just told she'll probably have to have several teeth pulled as well. Since she didn't get her FIRST tooth till she was 15 months old we were told she won't even lose her first tooth till she's 7!! We were also told that since she got her teeth so late and slow that they'll come out even slower and could complicate things when her permanent teeth try to come in. I'm not to worried about her having the teeth pulled. We've gone to the same dentist since I was 7 and I'm very happy with how my teeth turned out. My son's teeth on the other hand.......don't even get me started!!

DS 11 is another one with a small mouth and had to have 5 pulled a couple of years ago. I'm not sure what they used, we don't go back there with them but I believe he just got some shots. On his last visit a few weeks ago they said he still had 10 baby teeth to loose and referred us to a Ortho. Well ds has lost 7 of the 10 teeth in a week, so I'm putting off the Ortho for another month or so.

Please get a second opinion but if it's suggested again, go for it. I had a similar issue when I was little my teeth didn't fall out till the others had grown in and I had both sets in some spots and then the baby ones came out. I'm paying for it now, I've got many Dracula teeth as I call them, adult teeth that grew over my baby teeth. I wish, wish, wish someone would have told my Mom to have my teeth pulled. Even with braces I'd probably loose 3-4 teeth because they are so out of place.

Dad's a dentist so whatever he did with my mouth is what he would do with his patient's. I doubt he would give me substandard care

My teeth did NOT want to fall out and few ever got loose. I was at the end of 1st grade before my first tooth fell out. At one point, I had a double row of 4 teeth (second row was growing in) on the top and bottom. Not a good situation. Because my dad didn't pull my top teeth, my front tooth came in at a 90* angle. I would close my mouth and it would nearly stick out between my lips. It was horrible. Braces went on in 3rd grade for the first time to correct the top teeth. I had to do a second course of braces in middle school as well.

I think I had 13 teeth pulled in total (all baby teeth). Didn't scar me (and all were done with novicane some with sweet air and two in the oral surgeons office. I have a perfect smile now. I cant imagine chewing with my double set of teeth.
