OT Prayers desperately needed

Special thanks Pea-n-me and Beach Bound...and by no way were you out of line. we have a freind who is a Hodgkin's survivor who told my DH that 75% of this fight would be in his head. I believe that. It's just hard for me to watch him like this. I called a coworker tonight at the hospital when he wasn't around and had her look up the results of his labs from Fri for me (yeah, I know all that HIPPA stuff....but we just won't mention THAT)...well his crit is down to 29, sed rate is waaaay up, lfts thru the roof, BUN and CR climbing. (Apologies to nonmedical folks, but another nurse will understand). Tuesday can't get here soon enough.

Had more folks come by with food today...it's gotten almost humerous to watch. Friends are shocked by DHs appearance, and how fast it has happened. I must share one story however....There is a bank in westernMA with the initials "BN" (Don't want to get anyone in trouble).....well here's what happened....Less than 2 weeks ago, Kevin and I closed on a 70K home equity loan to build a new barn and a blacksmith shop for him right here at home. We have planned this for a couple of years, and were finally in a position to pull it off. Well, to make a long story short, the bull dozers were set to come in this week. On Friday, I frantically called our loan officer and explained the situation. When we closed, we were given 3 days to back out if we so decided. So the LO says he'll call me back...In the meantime I'm thinking, "OK, how the heck am I gonna carry the mortgage, home equity loan, and all the other household expenses?" Well 2 hours later, he calls back and says,"As far as B. N. (said financial institution) knows, you never closed on the loan...I'm tearing up the documents right now!" Can you guess who's getting the biggset, baddest box of chocolates I can find dropped on HIS desk in the morning???? One thing I will say, is that when bad things happen, it really brings out the best in people.

I apologize if I'm getting wordy...it just helps to write down what I'm feeling. You've all been such support. I'm going to try and get more than 4 hrs sleep tonight. I love you all! Kristie

As someone in healthcare at a major cancer hospital, if I may be so bold, may I offer a little unsolicited advice.... The mind and spirit have unknown strength to help the body and persevere. One thought is to keep in your mind the concept of self fulfilling prophesy. Believe and focus on the outcome you want, believe in the positive and in him being a survivor, and help him believe the same. Help the body achieve that objective of being a survivor by truely believing that is what WILL happen. We have many, many, many success stories, some we didn't think would be successes. I'm sorry if I stepped out of line with this advice. Our thoughts are with you.

I agree. When my DH was in high school, a friend was diagnosed with cancer and given very low odds of beating it -- the doctor said in his years of experience, if he had ten patients with this severity of cancer, only one would survive it. This young man looked him in the eye and said, "Then you are looking at that one man." ANd he was (and is!) and that was 20 years ago. My FIL was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma (DLBCL, the fast-growing one) in 1998 and was given a 50/50 chance of survival at one hospital, but then Johns-Hopkins rated him at only 25% projected survival. My MIL tends to be very glass-half empty, and I reminded her that no matter what the bottom line is, even if there is only a 1 in 1 million chance, there is always that ONE -- and we must all believe that ONE is HIM. She really met the challenge, too -- she brought in a dietician, she made all sorts of different foods to keep my FIL eating and keep his strength up (even when he didn't feel like it, due to loss of taste from the chemo); we kept all our Christmas plans that year but shuffled things around to accommodate how he might feel from the chemo (I think xmas came a day or two early that year!) They set aside plans to go on a cruise to Alaska (and took the trip once he got his 1-yr-cancer-free verdict a year later). In short -- the family worked as a team to beat it. He has been in remission from the cancer ever since.

Our family will be praying for your DH, you and your children as you meet the challenge together -- sounds like you have an excellent "team" surrounding you. We're all rooting for your 100% success -- our thoughts are with you.

I'll be saying a prayer to St. Jude for your husband. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in July. He is responding well to his treatments, but the roller coaster ride of emotions can be hard to take, just want normalcy back in our lives! All the unknowns are terrifying, but once you know what is going on, and your questions are finally answered, then you can start to work on healing. Please keep in touch, and let us know how you are doing.

Kristie, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. :grouphug:

I will add you and your family to my prayers.
I knwo for a fact that mircles and prayers do happen.

My thoughts and prayers are with you today for a positive outcome.

:grouphug: Dearest friends, Do you believe in miracles? well this afternoon we met with Dr. Carlos Fernandez at Mass General in boston. He examined my husband, did a complete physical, and then took his 2 sets of Cts to review with a radiologist. He returned a short while later and informed Kevin and I that there was NO mass on the 2nd CT...and no evidence of lymphoma! :cloud9:

He still feels that Kevin is sick (dropped his hematocrit acutely in 6 days and has loss sooooooo much weight in 2 weeks! Not to mention the jaundice) However, he feels that this is some sort of infectious process that he may have even picked up in the barn. He referred us to an Infectious disease specialist for further work up. Needless to say, we will all sleep toinght better than we have in 2 weeks. He is still very, very weak, but he has no evidence of cancer!!!!!!

We were elated, numb, emotionally spent! I just can't believe the roller coaster ride this has been. But the very first thing Kevin said as we left Dr F's office was that it was the prayer!!! Without question. Although I do not know any of you individually, consider yourself hugged as tightly as one person can give another human being. I CAN NEVER THANK YOU ALL for the good wishes and support. You have meant more to me these last few days than you'll ever know! God Bless you all! Kristie

Prayers for your whole family. :grouphug: Glad there was at least some good news to this!

I am sitting here at my computer almost in tears!! I am so excited to hear the news that your husband does not have the cancer he thought he had.

I will still be thinking and praying for your family that all works out just fine as I am sure it will.

Great big hugs all around!!!

:grouphug: So happy to read that your DH is cancer-free!!!
I sure hope they figure out what IS going on though.
Sending lots of healthy ~~~vibes~~~ to him!
