OT: Pool Rafts destroyed by kids

You simply have to eat it. There is no "making people pay" for a party you decided to have where you didn't put your stuff away and the kids were so poorly supervised in a pool that they broke things and you aren't sure who did it.

I agree with this. It would be in extremely poor taste for you to try to solicit "donations" from your guests.

In a way I understand how disappointing this situation is. The OP had great intentions to have a pool party. She tried making it special by bringin out the "inflatables". Unfortunately, they were busted.

This sort of situation happens to us at the lake. We have bought tubes to tow kids on the boat. Unfortunately the tubes at $175 dont last 3 visits to the lake. It is disappointing that although everyone uses the tubes, no one but me pays for a new tube. Then I am put in an uncomfortable situation, when I have to tell people not to lay on them when they are in the sand because they could pop.

OP...buy new inflatables when they go on clearance at Target. This will still give you time to use them this summer. Bit I agree to keeping them put away while "others" are over. Have noodles and $store inflatables for whn they are over.

Maybe ask the neighborhood kids to bring their own.

Exactly what we do when DS has friends over for squirt gun battles. I let him choose one of his Super-Soakers to use (he has 1/2 dozen) for himself & then we put the rest of his away. The neighborhood kids have to bring their own or they don't get to play.

Been there, done that - when we first moved into our home that came with a pool.

Most of the inflatables have weight limits and when several kids are trying to climb on at the same time and are tugging and pulling they just don't last. I just considered it part of hosting guests but did what pps suggest and put the good things away when a crowd was visiting.

We purchased plenty of noodles and inexpensive toys so that I didn't mind if some were ruined. Truthfully, though, the kids were always able to have plenty of fun with just noodles and each other.
