OT: Plantar Fascitis

OP here! And I have to swear by my Danskos. I bought two styles: the Portia and the Savanna and am IN LOVE! I'm on a quest now to replace all shoes in my closet with a pair of Danskos.

I'm a little nervous about wearing them with shorts. The pics on the website show women doing it; I suppose I can too.....

I apologize I didn't go through all the posts to read the responses so if this has been :confused3

My mom suffered from Plantar Fascitis for years, it was very very bad and she spent $100's of dollars on every pair of shoes she bought to give her relief.

One day we were going out and her shoestring broke and she wore my crocs. That night her feet didn't hurt her....so she borrowed them and a few days no pain at all. It has been about 3 or 4 years since she has been wearing crocs and has not had any plantar fascitis pain.

We buy ours at the Crocs outlet and never pay more than $10 for a pair. :)

Good luck, I know this can be very painful. I hope you find some relief.

My dad has plantar fascitis and he has special shoe inserts that were made by his podiatrist. You can also get them made at the Good Feet store if you have one where you live. But at his podiatrist, they were very expensive but his insurance covered most of the cost. The inserts are able to be changed between shoes so he can wear any shoes he wants. He is on his feet all day at work as he has a physical job that involves climbing and squatting, etc., and he says his feet don't hurt at all!

I had a very bad PF last year. I went to the foot Dr. and explained I was leaving for Disney in few months and a wheel chair was not an option. (My mom was in one and we had 2 strollers with us another wheel chair could not happen) so we came up with a plan:

1. Running sneakers and Running sneakers ONLY!!! From a running store not a dept. store there is a big difference. I had no idea.
2. Physical Therapy 3X's a week
3.custom (prescription) orthotics
4. cortisone shots, I had 3.
5. Night splint EVERY night. I have to say I found this to be key. My PF was always worst in the morning.

I was given a script for a CAM Boot but never had to use it.

My PF was gone. Had a great trip (until I broke 3 toes in WDW, yes same foot LOL)... Good Luck I know how painful it is and I hope this or something else helps.

Just back from the world and my Shape-ups worked out great. My heels never hurt (my calves hurt from all the walking and my ankles a little from having to dodge all the people that wanted to stop right in front of me). So for what it's worth I loved these shoes.

I had this about 6 years ago. I got it to go away completly by:

1. Stretching every chance I got.

2. Icing at least twice a day. You get the quickest results if you ice DIRECTLY on your foot. I would take a paper cup filled with water, freeze it, and then peel the top away and ice. Ice not just your heal, but your whole foot, because Plantar Fascia stretches from the front of your foot all the way to your heel

3. Massaging my foot going across the grain from toes to heal.

6. Advil, at least until the pain went away - I know it isn't good to have long-term.

4. Wearing these wraps when I didn't want to have on shoes.

5. Wearing Danskos when I did wear shoes. Those shoes saved my life.

The thing that I read that made it "click" for me on how to solve the problem was that it won't heal until the inflamation goes away. Thus the intense icing and advil - once it calmed down, it healed and didn't come back!

4. Wearing these wraps when I didn't want to have on shoes.

I didn't use these exact wraps, but I first learned how to wrap with tape then found some velcro wraps that REALLY helped my feet. I had completely forgotten that step when I posted earlier. I recommend wrapping.
