Now you'll understand why I get slightly cross when people refer to Sheffield as 'The North of England'- Its a two and half hour train journey South for me!!!

Sheffield is way north!! Birmingham is official north as its where the accents start. And you can definitely tell yu arent in the south when yu're there.

But then oxford is north to me!

Nice Jackie.
I live in the midlands, but I do have a 1000 year old castle 2 mins from my house which is where Charles Dickens wrote Oliver Twist and was the inpiration for Bleake House.

Oh dear ..........!

North to me is anything above the Watford Gap. Therefore, to me I am still officially a Northerner!!

I can assure you, Sheffield is bordering on Cockney territory to me! :lmao:

This reminds me of when we went to see the Boosh in Sheffield last week. One of them (Julian Barratt) is from Leeds area, and Noel Fielding is from London. Someone was shouting something at Fielding and his response was: "Sorry, you'll have to talk to him" (Points at Barratt): "Anything North of Watford just sounds like bubbles to me!" :lmao:

My dad always makes me laugh talking about north/south. He tells everyone that we have to keep the north a secret because otherwise everyone else will find out how nice it is and move up here.

So he still tells everyone that we all work down the mines, keep pigeons, and wear flats caps! (Which is true of course I'm wearing my flat cap now and have my pet pigeon on my shoulder :rotfl: )

Hahaha, its funny how biased people are about north/south!

I would never leave the south!!

London, Surrey, Kent and East Sussex are all of England that I require. Lol. (Except for holidaying purposes of course! As nature is at its best in other regions :))

Love my bluewater and london too much I'm afraid!! :)

Do you not have a Whippet too? Surely all Northerners have those as well?!

I'm the same - except my counties of choice are Hampshire and Berkshire. I try to avoid venturing into other counties unless I need to, although sometimes I have to venture into Surrey and London - not too often though.

I'm not too amused that I live in the Midlands now, I'm a Yorkshire girl still at heart. But I must admit I do like being able to get to London and Leeds in around the same time. And we always call in at Blue Water when I visit my SIL down south, but I miss shopping in Leeds. Milton Keynes is quite good though which is only an hour away.

I'm the same, I have uni friends all over the country and visit all over quite often. I would live elsewhere but my friends and family etc are up here, and in my line of work I get paid more and there are more job opportunities up here. But if the right job came up I would move as long as I could sustain the same lifetyle/size of house that I own now :)
