I know I'm kinda new around here, but I'm posting this more as a public service announcement.
My dd(4) has been having tonsilitis back to back for the last 5 weeks. She's on her 3rd round of antibiotics, and we have an ENT appt. scheduled for this coming Wednesday.
All that being said, last night I gave her the antibiotic around 9:30. About 10 minutes later she asks if she can come and lay with me (I was still watching the Olympics thing). I told her she could, and at that point she tells me she's itchy. I just kinda was like well don't scratch, and she again tells me she itches a few minutes later. Well I turn the light on, and she's got hives all over her. Off to the ER we went cause I was concerned that Benadryl wouldn't take care of all of it since it was it was antibiotics and in her body.
Needless to say, she couldn't get the benadryl down, and we ended up having to do an IV to get all the meds into her. She threw up twice in the ER, which is not normal for my child.
So the public service announcement part of this post is to let you know, that even if your child(ren) may have taken the antibiotcs several times before ok, and even if this isn't their first dose of the antibiotic this round (this was Eden's 6th dose this round), it's still possible for them to have a reaction to it. It really scares me to think what might have been if she hadn't come into my room and had just went to sleep instead.

We ran to the ER and the gave him a shot of epinephrin. Within a few minutes he was seriously bouncing off the walls. He was dancing and all kinds of craziness. The allergy was a truly scary experience but his reaction to the epi shot was downright funny. I'm glad your little one os OK.
