So- which version of Otterbox should I get for an iPhone 3GS? I saw quite a few different ones online.

I prefer the Defender series. I now have the iPhone 4 but my wife still has the 3GS and we both have Defender cases, both for our current phones and my old 3G. If you wanted I have an old one I can bring on PCC 2.0 if you wanted it for $10. It is both the Defender case and holster :)

We have the defender too. It is amazing.. espically with little ones who love to play with mommy's phone. She beats it up pretty bad and it is fine.

I have the Defender Otterbox, and I love it too. I got out of the car last night forgetting that my iPhone was on my lap. I stood up, and I heard my phone hit the concrete garage floor. I picked it up, and it was fine! Whew!!!

I constantly drop things, and my Greyhounds enjoy relocating my stuff to another part of the house. The Defender has been great!

My brother and I attach my iPhone to our remote control airplane, and crashed it a few times to test the Otterbox. It worked really well.:)

I do the exact same thing all the time...oops. Love you iPhone!

Defender for travel and outdoor use, Commuter is lighter and smaller and will allow external battery chargers - the Defender is too big and won't let most external battery packs plug in (recharge packs, not wall outlet chargers).

Does the Defender fit well in a pocket? It looks pretty bulky. Right now I'm leaning toward the Commuter (not the TL, but the regular one) because of the size. Also, I'm not really prone to dropping my phone a lot. I've done it a couple times and my cheapo case has been fine, but would like a little more protection so that's why I'm looking at an Otterbox.

I can put the Defender in my pocket, but I am a guy and have guy jean pockets. Girl jean pockets in my experience are too small for a naked iPhone (or at least the ones I have worn are). That said, I slip my phone into my pockets at times and it fits ok. It really only adds a little bit in each direction. .27 inches to the height, .33 inches to the width, and .32 inches to the depth. So essentiall it has an eighth of an inch extra on each side of the phone.

The Otterbox is indeed bulky, and does not fit into docker pants pockets. It will only fit in the AquaPac case if I force it in there.

I will have mine on the cruise if you would like to see it first hand. I will have both the AquaPac and Otterbox on my iPhone for Castaway Cay day.

I can fit the defender in my jeans pocket but it is thicker than the case I had.
