OT ~ Official Summer 2007 Canadian Campers Thread

I just came across this thread while searching for SandraC's Cedar Point review and thought I bring it forward since it's almost that time again :cool1: I'm getting cabin fever, this winter just seems to be lasting so long. We have four reservations so far for the coming season. We have a weekend booked at Pinery, a week at Algonquin, a week at Bruce National Park and a long weekend at Camper's Cove in Wheatley. As it stands right now, our first weekend out will be the weekend after the May long weekend......but not sure I can wait that long - if it gets :worship:warm anytime soon I may talk DH into an earlier outing!
When are you going to the pinery? We live about 1/2 hr from here and go to Grand Bend quite a few weekends for a day trip. Make sure you check out the flea market one of our fav's!

We may do a weekend at the Pinery this year too. We bought a 1973 trailer with a fairly new canvas and in really good shape. It is all decked out in Mickey. Take Care Kat

We are doing our first ever camping trip with the kids this July at Turkey Point Provincial Park. Anyone ever camped here? Reviews would be appreciated. Thanks!

We'll be at the Pinery May 22-25. We thought we'd skip the May long weekend noise and go the following weekend but then after booking the site we realized it was the American long weekend  (wondered why there were so few sites available)! We live near Sarnia. Your trailer sounds cute :thumbsup2 .

SherryG, I've never been to Turkey Point but have heard it is a nice campground :)

Thats cool we are in Goderich. Love your Boston by the way. We have a 6month old name Lily after Walt Disney's wife.

We've been to turkey point - it was a really nice camp ground. Not a whole lot for the kdis to do other then 'camping stuff' but it was quiet and there was a nice beach not too far!
We just booked point farms provincial park for August - anyone been there? Chose that over the pinery because we just want somewhere quiet that has a place we can drop the canoe in. PF has a whole lot less campsites then pinery so am hoping it's going to be quiet there.
I'm sure we'll do Laurel creek and somwhere else too but I have to get a baseball schedule for the kids games first. Won't be doing too much this year because we have a cottage in NS booked for the last week of July!

We are tent campers. We might eventually get a trailer but it might be something dh and I will do later on. Hopefully this summer 2008 will involve more lake camping.

We spend just about every weekend down at Long Point on our boat! We camp usually at Long Point provincial park, but we have also stayed at Turkey Point. Turkey Point is a nice park, usually lots of kids activities. It always looks clean and well maintained. We have a 33 foot trailer and have found it difficult to get into some of the sites with it as there is alot of trees, it is very wooded. There is a short drive to the beach, but parking is free. It's a very nice beach!
Have Fun! I know we are very anxious to get on with summer. I could live in our trailer all our summer! Love it!
Lisa

We have a permanent site trailer in Acton. It's only 25 minutes drive from home and we love it!

The part is small and called Nor-Halton. The pool is cold....but I just love the park. Really nice folks.

I love this thread my two favourite things in one place Disney and Camping. I love to camp we usually book 8-9 trips a year. By far my favourite times to go are early spring and early fall when the weather is cooler and there are no bugs. I have a 14 foot viking tent trailer with two kids its very convenient with all the ammenities it has. We camp at the provincial parks mostly our favourite is Balsam Lake it's great to swim in and has some awsome sites. We need to arrange a Dis group camping weekend that would be cool.

The wife and i have a 34 foot trailer on a permanent site on Hay Bay on the Bay of Quinte. We have both been avid campers for about 25 years. On April-15 i will be going up to stay there for the summer. I can hardly wait as i am starting to get cabin fever. I will be leaving for 2 weeks at the end of August as we will be going to Disney. Then back to the trailer until Thanksgiving.

We retire in about 16 years and have already been looking at travel trailer so we can cruise North America.

We also considered buying a trailer in Florida and keeping the one we have in Acton. When it's time for "Shady Pines" we can sell the trailers and our house and enjoy our waining years at "Shady Pines".

I'm up for a DISmeet in Nor-Halton Campgrounds. It's about 10 minutes north of Milton, Ontario. Our trailer is their and we can host it! Sandra

The wife and I would be interested in coming , we have never been to one yet. We live about 20 min. from Milton. Just let us know when. Have a Magical Day.:goodvibes

We have a 32 foot permanent trailor in Vacationland, Brackley Beach, PEI. We built a 28 foot deck along side.

It is the perfect location as it is only 15 minutes to work in Charlottetown. We usually move down for the summer when the kids get out of school but I found out over the winter that they can catch the school bus at the campground so if the weather is good in May and June, we can move down earlier.

My DD15 works at the campground store so I don't have to drive her to "town" for work. My DH also works a little maintenance there so it is convenient. My stepson does security for the campground so we see him more in the summer than the winter (and he only lives one street over). My DD12 will be applying this summer to run the kids fun club at the campground.

We love it there. The kids go swimming several times every day in the pool and have a bunch of friends that they hang with in the summer. We also have great camping neighbours but also get to meet lots of nightly visitors from all over Canada and the US.
