Anyone been there recently? We used to go every year and haven't been in a couple years. I've heard it has gotten rowdy and not so family friendly anymore. Anyone experience this? We already have reservations to go in July and I hope this is not the case.

I have not been there in a few years - but my friend has not mentioned anything. Her family has owned a condo at the Quay since the early 80s. They rent it most of the time... but my friend takes her family there several times a year.

My HS, College and grad school trips always involved a trip there. We took our kids there about 4 years ago.

I don't think it has gotten too wild... my friend is still going and her kids are 8, 11 and 13.

It is during senior week. The end of the Boardwalk gets alittle exciting when it's packed on a Saturday night. But otherwise...we are back in the condo by 8pm most vacation nights with our children just chilling out or at the condo pool. We stay at 80th street of higher. It's seems to be quieter than the inlet. We like OC because it's relatively close and it's a tradition for us. I've been going since I was a kid and now my kid's are doing the same. So in addition to our other vacation plans, we try to grab beach time every summer too.

We own a condo on 52nd street and go often. It is still very family oriented, however, I would avoid the area in early june when all the high school seniors are there partying! I agree with the PP about the end of the boardwalk being crazy, but still worth venturing there for the fries, funnel cakes, ice cream and to people watch! Definitely go in July...you will have a great time.

We always rent a house in Fenwick Island, De - just north of Ocean City - but travel to OC's boardwalk once or twice during our visit. We think it is family-friendly and haven't noticed many rowdy kids. Our twins are only two and we wouldn't take them there if we thought it wasn't nice for families. We love to walk on the boardwalk for good food and just to people watch. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a fun, enjoyable vacation!

We're going to OC, MD in August (after the kids get out of camp). It's also a tradition for us and the family absolutely LOVES it there. I think they look forward to OC more than Disney even. Anyway, we always stay at the Golden Sands which is an oceanfront condo on 109th street. It's basically 95% families and not rowdy at all. It's got all the amenities you could ask for (outdoor and indoor pool, baby pool, grill bar and deck, gift shop, ice cream shop) and is right on the beach. It's not too close to the boardwalk and that is where the rowdiness is - ugh did I just say that?! My age is really showing isn't it :rotfl:

Where in PA are you from? PM me if you have any specific questions about OC or Golden Sands.

My SIL rents a condo in Ocean City in August every year and we join her for a day with our kids. It has never seemed rowdy. However, like most posters, her condo is in the high numbers.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It sounds like it is still family friendly, with the exception of Senior Week. We are actually staying on the Boardwalk this year, but maybe if it does seem too rowdy, next time we will get a condo higher up, as many of you have suggested! :thumbsup2

My stepson goes with his mother a few times a year and he says it is not too good for children. He's 12.

My sister rents a condo every summer and we go for a few days with my 9 and 6 year old DD's. It's pretty family oriented. I would'nt go during Senior week, but the rest of the summer is pretty tame. Families are OC's bread and butter during the summer month's , I don't think they are going to allow that to be messed up by a few miscreants. On the rare occasion I've seen a problem occur, it has quickly been taken care of by the police.
