OT: North Pole NY

Has anyone been to Santa's Workshop in North Pole NY? We are heading there in July and I am wondering how long to expect to be there?

I took my kids there when they were little and we spent the good part of the day there. Wasn't a place where we'd have spent more than that. There is a lot to do in the Adirondacks, though. Have fun!

awwwwwwww.........I have a picture of me standing next to the Pole at North Pole, NY when I was about 2 or 3 - that was 45 years ago, ok now I feel really old.

There is so much to do in the area I wanted to make sure we leave enough time for Santa. Can't wait for the kids to see it, I am sure at 3 and 4 it will still be cool for them.

I have fond memories of the North Pole in NY. I wonder if they still have the whale that kids can stand up in? Or the pole that is covered in frost?

I live about 40 miles from the north pole. Unfortunately it is a bit run down and I would dare say you will be done in a few short hours. Years and years ago it was a nice place to spend the day but now.....................?? In fact back in the fifties my Aunt would spend her summers in a cabin and she worked as an elf. In it's time it was great. I'm not sure I would spend my time there. If you can you should look into spending some time in Lake George.

I went there about 25 years ago (wow!). I was 5! Anyway I remember some of it, but I am sure things have changed since I was there.

We went while we were staying at a dude ranch called Rydin-Hi. Hmmmmm, you've now got me thinking that I may have to look into prices for next years vacation!!!!!


Let me know how NP was.....my boys are 5 and 6 and the magic of Santa is still strong in our house!

we went to Lake Placid a couple summers ago, we love the area, we went to North Pole, but the park was not open for the season yet.......it was June. But I do have pics of the kids in front of the post office that says north pole.....lol.......

What struck me starann is the Rydin-Hi ranch post. My husband and is family used to go there all the time!!! Do you think its still there?

I remember we got in a stagecoach on that same trip. Such good memories.

North Pole was cute, we went last year since our in-laws Camp is nearby. The kids (ages 5 and 1) liked the shows and the few rides, my teenager liked Mrs. Claus' candy shop. I thought admission was pricey considering what it is and that there's not much to it. BUT it was something to do for the day, we really enjoyed seeing real reindeer and feeding them, we really enjoyed the Nativity play and our youngest children did enjoy themselves. About 25 years ago I went to the North Pole and I also remember going to the wild west in the same trip. I can remember my sister and I hiding behind bales of hay from the "bad guys" and then pretending to shoot them down. I also remember a big paddle boat called the Minnie-Ha-Ha the same trip and being so excited because it was named after Minnie Mouse.

We had the opposite experience. The Santa was more concerned with his teen girl elf helpers than noticing our son. I had to prompt the Santa, 'Tell Santa what you want for Christmas' then Santa would finally say, "yes, what DO you want this year?".
I wasn't impressed with that. I guess it depends on which Santa you get too.
