OT: North Carolina family beach vacation?

Planning a North Carolina beach vacation, heard of Wrightsville Beach, is this a good place for a family vacation with two adults, one teen and two little ones? Is there a broadwalk, rides, etc..? Never been to North Carolina, don't know where else would be good for a family beach vacation. Looking for house rental or hotel. Any information on beaches/hotels/beach front rentals/etc.... would be greatly appreciated.

DH and DD are on Topsail island right now. My mother in law lives there. I don't have any onfo but DD is having a great time! It's near Surf City.
