OT - Need original baby boy name...

My two boys are named Braeden and Jaxson. They somewhat different, but we made sure we spelled them differently. We did not want our youngest to be shortened to Jack, some people do call him Jax from time to time and that is fine.

Full names are Zachary Braeden and Cooper Jaxson, we are middle name people.

As someone who's parent's gave her a difficult to pronounce name, I couldn't agree more! I know people think they're being original, but it's a real PITA to constantly have to correct others on the spelling and/or pronunciation of your name.

I totally agree! I have spent half my life cringing when someone new calls my name, its never pronounced right and always spelled wrong. Its Tawnya, why oh why didnt my mom spell it Tonya! I always swore I wouldn't name my kids odd names or spell them odd, but I have a Maegan and its always misspelled.

I went with strong, yet less popular boys names. My oldest is Merrick. It was my great grandma's maiden name. I have heard of both boys and girls (spelled Marek), although I am yet to meet another Merrick!

Our baby boy is Reagan. I usually have to explain that he's not a girl because of his name. Obviously much more popular as a girls name, why, I don't know!! It means "little king", but we mainly named him after Ronald, as he was born on the anniversary of Reagan's death. (We had strongly considered Carter as well, but we are bigger fans of Ronny:goodvibes)

suggested names,

....derrick glenn, duke earl, tarleton ray, & one name

...where i used to work...[ob]..that were on all the clocks...
in all the labor rooms,:rolleyes1

.....seth thomas. or how about....the "jack tarot". pirate:

oh, another irish name...michael garland. [ though not so much...,the good brother.... ]

my dear mother..took her maiden name... & gave it to another

brother....patrick piatt. [ oh, glenn is from john glenn] .

or how about..native american?.."tecumseh". :thumbsup2

now my wife went with the more traditional names..so our
second..got stuck with...patrick chrisopher { her name }..instead
of ....a more proper neam.."tank truck".

My son's name is Cass. We named him after his great grandfather Casimer. Everyone calls Grandpa Cass, so we just went with the shortened name for our son.

My youngest son is Noah. We never realized how popular it was until he started school. He has 5 Noahs in his grade, and we live in a very small town.:rotfl:

Just beware- My oldest is always looking for personalized things in stores and he can never find his name anywhere. It kind of makes him mad.

In your case, I would've named her Megan, the most common spelling of that name (which has several spelling options). Since I have a name that is mispronounced most of the time, my dd is Katherine (not Catherine, Katharine, Kathryn, Cathryn), and we call her Kate. I wanted the most common spelling!

My DS is Theo. I like it because it isn't something that people have never seen before so it isn't tough to pronounce, but you hardly ever see it. (Plus the bonus with a short, easy name is that he was writing his name when he was two! LOL!) For us it is a family name, and short for Theophil.

Other favorites are Evan and Everett.

My 10 year old DS is Wyatt. New baby arriving in January will be Elliott.

Jaxson is becoming very popular lately. My friend and my neighbor both named their boys Jaxon (no s, both were born in 2007). I also have a Jackson that I babysit for twice a week.

OP, Old names seem to be new again. We were thinking Ian Craig when we have a boy but Ian has gotten popular in our area that I am dropping it. Craig is a family name, so we will keep it for a middle name.

We had to do the "G" thing and our DS's are Grant, Garrison, and Gage. Gage is unusual, but becoming more popular. Garrison is traditional but unusual. Grant is my favorite name but not very unique. Good luck!

When I was pregnant with DS we decided we liked Gage. When we started telling people, we got it unmercifully (tire gauge, rain guage, etc.). Still love the name-and see it more often now-but we ended up giving him a different name.

Shamus
Sean

I have 2 teacher friends (different families) who named their sons Enzo and Wade.

I love the name Dylan.

As someone who's name isn't popular, it's crushing as a kid not to find anything with your name preprinted on it (pencils, stickers etc). There are variations of my name (Anne, Annie) but never my name:ANNETTE. My sister got the more popular name, Amanda. It's amazing that I'm almost 40 and that still bugs me. Not sure why.

As an example of weird trends in popular names, Logan is extremely popular in my area for little boys. Somehow, my son is the only Logan currently in his school of several hundred students. We can't go to Target without running into other Logans, but none in his classroom or school. His grade has multiple Henry, Isaac, Noah and Kadens.

Our oldest is Rylan and our new baby is Chase.

Other names that I liked this time around were Alisdair, Cohen, Kieran, Tristan, and Seamus.

My 29 year old son is named Bryceton. We have never encountered another.

My 22 month old is Brycestyn. We had several different spellings and Bryceton was 1 of the 5 of them. I highly doubt that we will run into another one.

My other boys are TJ and Kwintyn

My next child, if I would have had one was going to be named Denver. It's gender neutral so I was going to name the child that whether it was a boy or girl. I only recently found out that it was my Grandmother's real first name- had no idea as she went by Lorene.

Anyway, I think it's cute and I'll let you have it as there's going to be no 4th child for me. :sad1:

My son's name is Alden (pronounced ALLDEN) . It's close to Aiden which I also liked when I was pregnant, but just a bit unusual. Good luck

Dominik is a name not used very much and I also like the name Gabriel.
