I know this is completely OT (sorry), but I am desperate. DH and I had a pretty good nighttime schedule going with our 3 month old twins, but lately they are waking up at 1:30ish for a bottle, which is fine and then they are up every 20-30 minutes til 6am! What are we doing wrong

They take a bedtime bottle at 8am then they are down til 1:30ish. We change diapers and feed a bottle, then put them back down. They won't stay down and fall in and out of sleep every half hour or so til 6am when they wake for the day. Does anyone have any solutions for us?? Thanks!

Hi - I have triplets - they are almost 4 years old now.

Have you read: Healthy Sleep Habits - Happy Child? It is a great book and teaches you how to get your children to sleep. I would suggest getting it right away to save your sanity. I don't remember your exact situation happening with my kids, but you may have to adjust their bed time - it may need to be earlier. They may also need 3 naps at that age - I'm not sure when it goes down to 2 naps per day, but all of that can affect their nighttime sleep.

Good luck and go get that book if you don't have it!!

We also used Healthy Sleep Habits - Happy Child...it was very helpful. The daytime routine and napping schedule are crucial at this age.

I also read the Baby Whisperer. She suggested giving the babies a "dreamfeed". That is where, right before you go to bed, you go in and feed the sleeping babies. They really will take the bottle without waking up. Then their little tummies are full, and they hopefully won't wake up for that 1:30 feeding!

With our twins, things really didn't start falling into place and getting normal until they were four months old. I wish you luck....it will get better!

i think out twins started sleeping for like 6-7 hours when they were 6 months old..i remember how hard it was.(thy're 4 now and sleep about 10 hrs with an occasional 1 hour nap during the day)i cant remember what we did-it was only 4 years ago but my mind draws a blank. all i can say is that it will get better and if your lucky your twins wont fight all day like mine do:eek:

Hi. I'm the mother of 3 dd's, no twins. Our oldest gave us a really rough time her first year, and hated to sleep. We tried everything, and nothing seemed to help. We look back now and laugh. I don't have any advice, sorry, but I will tell you this will pass, all too quickly. One day you'll wake up and miss the middle of the night feedings. (Honest) It's sad how fast they grow up. We are now expecting #4 and I'm looking forward to nights. I guess I'm a little crazy! Good Luck, and enjoy your babies. Janice

Hi,
Firstly congrats on your new babies.
May i suggest that it could be wind, you may be thinking that you have winded them enough but unfortunatley sometimes they can't get all of it up straight away and once they lay down it can really play on them. This did happen with our dd,and we was told by our midwife that once they lay down,it can become quite painful for them, she also suggested we give her a full dropper of Infacol before she had her bottle-a liquid which helps them to bring up there wind(sorry i don't know what your equivalent would be)Once she had finished her bottle we would put our dd back in her cot, then let her lie there for about 5 minutes then try winding her again and 99% of the time she would always bring up another huge burp, then would fall back to sleep with no waking up till morning.I know all babies are different but just thought you could give this a try.Hope you will get it sorted soon.As the op said, you may find yourself missing the night feeds once they learn to sleep thru-i know we did.x.

Most kids don't sleep through the night at 3 months old. They could also be having a growth spurt.

I too second that book--Healthy Sleep Habits. At that age I was still swaddling my twins. I never did it with my first two, but when I had twins--I did anything to get a good nights sleep. They all go through stages and hopefully it is a growth spurt. I know this does not help you now, but it will be over before you know it. The miracle blanket was the best and really helped us out a lot. They would still get up to eat, but would always fall right back asleep.

I have twin dd's who are now 5. I remember this very clearly. It does have something do to with the growth spurt. I did the bottles while they were sleeping thing before I went to bed. It worked most nights for awhile. We also used a white noise machine. hth
