OT - Need bday gift ideas for a 7 year old girl

My niece's 7th birthday is in 1 1/2 weeks and I'm clueless what to get her. My SIL always gives her family the good ideas and we get told whatever is left over. Kind of tired of it so thought I'd just try to pick out something on my own. The only ideas we were given is Taylor Swift CD's and Itunes gift cards (not sure why we would buy a CD if we are going to get Itunes gift cards). We usually spend about $50 - $60 on her. The only thing I know is that she isn't really into playing with dolls/barbies. Her older brother makes fun of her if she does and my SIL heavily discourages her from playing with them. Anyone have any good gift ideas for a 7 year old girl?

Here are a few ideas:

* nice piece of jewelry.....earrings, bracelet or necklace

* books or movies, especially if you have some favorites from your childhood you'd like to share

* if you are local, a "date" for lunch and the movies or to paint pottery...time is precious!

* that's a generous amount...how about spend some on a gift now and buy a savings bond for later

My kids are always thrilled with gift cards so they can shop for themselves...and we also love build a bear.

My dd is 8. She loves Claires. Do you have one nearby that you can get her a GC too? Or a Justice one? She loves both of them.

Go to a Claire's and buy tons of girlie stuff! Lip balm, hair ties, jewelry, head bands, rings, necklaces! You could go crazy.

Buy her some pens and books to doodle on. Get her the cd. What about an mp3 player? You can pick up a SanDisk mp3 player for a reasonable amount with a decent sized memory.

Movie passes so she can go with her friends.

What about a kid-proof digital camera?

Does she have her ears pierced? Does she want them done?

Take her friends out to Chuck E. Cheese.
