I got a lot of GREAT help in response to my previous thread on planning my daughter's 5th birthday party ball. We are now in the stage of finalizing games so I can get to shopping. (Before Oriental Trading's free shipping ends!)

I am using an idea I read on birthdaypartyideas.com and having all the children make a bracelet at the beginning of the party-- we will have stretchy cord and ABC beads and some adults to help them (they can do their whole name or initials.) They will keep this bracelet with them as they play and get beads at the end of each activity. So, here's the list (again, much help from various sources):

1) Pass Ariel's Pearls: that under the legs/ over the head pass the balloon game using pearlized balloons. They will get green beads.

2) Jasmine's Musical Magic Carpets: basic musical chairs, with felt squares for carpets. They will get purple beads.

3) Dress Cinderella for the Ball: they will stick decorations onto a Cinderella picture a la the mice trimming the dress from the movie. They will be blindfolded like pin the tail on the donkey. They will get blue beads.

4) Pass the Poison Apple: hot potato, but with an apple and instead of out they fall asleep. The last one will wake them all with a Hershey's kiss. They will get red beads.

5) Slay Maleficent! I found a dragon pinata that I think resembles Maleficent tolerably well and I might even paint it to make it look more like her. They will get pink beads.

6) For Belle-- waht to do? I thought maybe they could waltz around like Belle and the Beast, to the song, but-- not enough boys to make pairs. I think daughter and her friends would want to be in actual pairs.... Maybe just "twirl like Belle?" And then give yellow beads?

FYI-- We will take the order of the games from most active to least, then do cake and presents, and then the pinata one last, right before they leave.

Also-- for goody bags all they are getting is a gauze bag with, for girls-- a lip gloss ring and sticky jewels "earrings" and for boys, temporary tatoos and a cape that I am making very simply with very cheap fabric. Then there is the bracelet that they make, any candy from the pinata, and I am making those favor poufs with m&ms in them...

Thoughts? Tips?

Ya'll are the best!

OMG, I love your ideas! Can you plan my DS's party???

How about something book related for Belle? Maybe they can stack books up really high or even plastic/paper plates and plastic cups? Whoever makes the tallest one without it falling over wins?

We're doing this game but using Cinderella.

Have the kids sit in a circle. Each kid will have a wrapped box. I'll read them a short version of Cinderella (you could use Beauty and the Beast). Every time they hear the word "Cinderella", they will pass the box to their right. At the end of the story, they get to open the box that they have in their hands. Our boxes will contain a tiara, but maybe you could have your boxes contain a yellow bead.

I've got a disney party handbook and the games they have listed for Beauty and the Beast are "Dust Bunny Derby" where basically you use cotton balls as dust bunnies and they use a feather duster to sweep their cotton ball to the finish line in a relay race. They also have "Pass Mrs Potts" where the kids sit in a circle and pass a unbreakable teapot (I actually just saw a stuffed Mrs Potts at the Disney Store)to the tune of Be Our Guest and when the music stops that child is out and it continues till one kid left. They also have a game that involves all the kids writing a story with each kid writing one page then passing it to the next kid to continue. Let me know if you want the exact instructions for any of them.

Can you find yellow toilet paper? Pair the girls up and give them 5 minutes to create a dress for Belle--one girl serves as the model, the other as the dress maker. Give out prizes in different categories (funniest, most creative, etc.)

How about the game where you put 10 or 12 things on a tray, let the kids stare at it for a few minutes and have to write down everything they saw and the one with the most items wins.

You could do all B&B themed things-- a book, a rose, a clock, a candle holder, feather duster, etc.

HTH

Thank you for all of these really good ideas!

The group we are having has some pre-readers so we can't do the writing games (although I love them-- great ideas.) I think the yellow toilet paper thing is a great idea-- we can get yellow crepe paper streamers. That is exactly the kind of not-too-competitive, active game that I need. (We have 20 little guests between 3 and 6. And yes, I am crazy, thanks for asking.)

Thanks again for all the great tips!
