Anyone here have Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease? I've been looking online for sites that will give me a break down of what I can and cant eat (or even a general idea) because I was diagnosed this past weekend with it and they sent me home w/ no info. I was told I had to loose another 35-40lbs to get to hopefully get rid of it b4 it hits NASH, and so I need to know the diet and some good exercises for it. I'm also dealing w/ a crappy gallbladder to go w/ it.

do they think your gallbladder is the cause of this? are you overweight? high cholesterol?
just wondering if they have any clue as to the cause and are trying to correct that?
that is first line in treatment for this, example if you are overweight lose weight, control diabetes if you have it, lower cholesterol.
for diet just follow a healthy diet emphasis on fruits and vegetables,, less fat, especially less saturated fat, avoid fried food, avoid fatty food, try to follow a plant based diet and use healthy fats such as olive oil, if you eat animal flesh a small amount of fish is best.
don't drink alchohol.
do you take any meds? be careful with meds that metabolize primarily thru the liver, and only use them as directed, example tylenol.
hope this helps

I am overweight, but I dont have high cholesterol...bp...or diabetes.

I have been loosing weight since Oct. I've lost 35lbs since Oct 1. I'm hoping that I can get the rest of the weight off b4 Disney in Dec, but I'm not going to try to overdo myself either. That's my main goal right now....35-40lbs in 6m which is only 6lbs a month...I think I might be able to do that.

I'm just worried that I'm going to do something wrong and end up hurting myself more though if I eat wrong. I'm allergic to fish so that is out of the question, but I'm hoping turkey and chicken are okay. I'm thinking that its looking like I might be a salad all the time kind of person JIC.

If you stick to a healthy plant based diet using chicken/turkey as condiments and only use healthy fats ( olive oil), you will be fine, also watch the meds you take, anything that is stressful to the liver you should avoid, example again, tylenol and alcohol.
your liver is not metabolizing fat for whatever reason, my off the top of my head guess without knowing your full history would be the weight, diet, and the gallbladder issues.
good luck!
