On our way to Orlando, we are planning on spending 2 nights in Myrtle Beach. We would like to stay somewhere close to the Broadway at the Beach complex, does anyone know of a good clean, reasonably priced hotel near here?

There are only a couple of hotels right near Broadway. Sorry, the only one I can remember is the Hampton. This area is removed from the beach strip where all the hotels are located. If you go down to the beach strip there are a lot of really bad hotels. The better ones are in the area north of 21st Ave. on North Ocean Blvd. The Anderson Ocean club is nice as is the Breakers Paradise tower. The Sheraton convention centre is nice and is in between the beach strip and Broadway at the Beach.

We were just there in July and had a major issue with our hotel and had to move out. We ended up only being able to get a room down at the south end of the beach strip. That end is very old and is where the bulk of the really bad (in terms of run down) hotels are. Anyway, we stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites. I would stay there again if need be. It is old but has been updated...however they decorated in knotty pine style which is a little weird at the beach. Breakfast in included and most rooms have a beach view. The staff was very nice, in fact, when I told the man at the front desk about what had just happened to us he felt really bad. So bad that he dropped the nightly rate by $35 X 8 nights.

Thanks for that info, I actually was lookng at the south end, I will change my direction now. Don't want a rundown room. I don't need fancy, just clean and safe.

Most hotels offer rooms with no view...those tend to be the worst rooms. Book an ocean view, those ones usually are better maintained.

The Hampton at Broadway should be fine....if you want to be in that area. I would say that's it's about a 6-8 minute drive away from the beach strip. That is really a shopping entertainment area....not a hotel area.

We were referred to a really great little restaurant called Pomodora's. It's not to far away from Broadway. It's Italian and the food was excellent and they have a $10 menu that states the portions are a little smaller. Smaller....ya right. The men in our group didn't finish their meals.

Great info. I didn't realize the beach was so close to Broadway. So we really don't have to stay there to be close. What about outlet shopping, is there any near there?

Tanger outlet has 2 locations...one is fairly close by, about a 15 minute drive. The other is in North Myrtle and about a 30-40 minute drive. They have many of the same stores but there are also many stores that are only in one or the other.

MB really is a beach destination.....we were there in July with a really large group of families for US nationals. We had been there several times in the past but one of my friends that had never been before summed it up to perfection. I quote " Myrtle Beach is nothing more than Niagara Falls with a beach"
