We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach from July 14-20. I'm sure many places are sold out already but we just found out that our DD 6 will be dancing with her dance team there. I haven't the slightest idea where to stay. I have never stayed in a beach front resort but have heard that some of them are very old. Can anyone recommend a nice, clean, family friendly resort on the ocean in Myrtle Beach?

Any advice or tips on Myrtle beach? Thanks!

we go to Myrtle Beach every other year. Here are a few good spots to try.
Long Bay
Montery Bay
Carolina Winds
Ocean Reef
Dunes Village

we are staying at Long Bay this year the same time you are going.
Hope this helps

we reciently stayed at the best western and it was surprisingly nice... it is not in the most popular district but was on the beach with a great view... had kitchens in the rooms and was priced GREAT!

Dunes Village mentioned above is really nice...my mom and I stayed there this past January. They have a cute little indoor waterpark--lazy river, slide, kidy pool. We really liked it and it was in a pretty convenient location...and hopefully we'll be staying there again this summer!:)

We stay at a place called "Myrtle Beach Resort." They are condos that can be rented from the owners directly or by the rental office. A great place with many pools, beautiful beach, and great beach-side bar. If you search on google, you will find their site.

My kids are 10,8, and 7. We've stayed at the Sand Dunes for the past 5 years. Either there or the Ocean Dunes (right next door) are a great choice. They've got a great waterpark out front that's been my kids' favorite part of the trip since they opened it. Plus, there are always kids club activities going on that they've always enjoyed.

You can check them out at http://www.sandsresorts.com

Regardless, I would recommend staying towards the northern end of Myrtle Beach (60th-80th Ave) - not to be confused with North Myrtle Beach, which is a separate city altogether... ;). This area tends to be less gaudy and wild and more family friendly than the downtown area.

Myrtle Beach Resort is where we stay. It has a new Lazy River with a water play area, a couple of outdoor pools, an indoor pool, and one of those indoor/outdoor pools. It's on the beach and is a great place for families. My family went there for vacations when I was growing up and now we take our kids.

I would go to the Myrtle Beach vistor's bur. website, and you can look up all of the above mentioned hotels and see some pictures.

Two must sees - Broadway at the Beach & the Tanger Outlet malls.

Long Bay is what we are leaning towards based on Trip Advisor pictures and reviews. They can also accomodate us for our dates. Anyone stay there before?
