Long time lurker, first time starting a thread. I am really starting to freak out, this morning my DD4 came in and said her belly hurt, about 45 minutes later she threw up. I left for work and she seems much better and no fever but I am FREAKING out about everyone else getting sick. I would be fine if they end up getting sick when we are down there as it happens, but my concern is getting there. We have a 2 hr drive to the airport and a 2 hr non-stop flight, so its not too long, but I have no idea what caused her to be sick, no one we know is sick and we all had the flu shots. Guess I just need a little pixie dust and keep my fingers crossed that no one else gets sick... I know its not the end of the world and there are a lot more serious things it could be, but I have been planning this surprise trip since March and the kids still don't know we are going... Just needed to vent and take a deep breath, I am sure it will all be ok.

Lysol everything? The flu shot does not prevent stomach virus', nothing does, unfortunately. I hope it stays isolated - since there is no fever, it doesn't seem to be one of the big, long virus' like rota or nori.

lots and lots of pixiedust: for you!! I hope she feels better and no else gets sick! I would definitely say be prepared!! Take extra clothes in the carry ons just in case!! My DS gets air sick! I learned my lesson the first time he flew! It wasn't pretty!

Have a magical, healthy vacation!!

there really is not much you can do, other than wash your hands frequently and hope for the best:grouphug: .Unfortunately, it is that time of year.

We are leaving tomorrow morning, and DD2 woke up this morning with a runny nose. I'm really not happy about this at all either, but no on is going to cancel, so we just have to deal, and make the best of it. Good luck!!

I'll just throw this out there...look in the back of her throat and see if there are any white bumps. The ONLY time my son vomits is when he has strep.

The doctors can do a quick strep test and if it's positive, she can start on the antibiotic and will be feeling better super quickly.

Just an idea!

Thanks everyone. I will check her throat as she has had a bad cough for the last few days and is very phelgmy, maybe its something more... I am feeling better as she has not throw up again, my DH even says she is smiling.

Maybe the throwing up was related to the phlegmy cough. My kids will vomit when they're phlegmy.

I hope everyone gets/stays healthy for your trip.

My kids are vomiters so it wouldn't be a vacation without someone throwing up at some point.
