OT - Monster Jam Pit Party

I just bought tickets to take my boys to Monster Jam in DC later this month. Pit Passes came with the tickets - there is some sort of pit party from 11am-12:30pm (show starts at 2). Has anyone been to the pit party? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to arrive that early then have 1 1/2 hours between the pit party and the show.

Basically the pit party allows you to walk down in the arena and meet the drivers and take close up pictures of the trucks. Some drivers are very friendly and sign autographs and will take pictures with you. We will usually go to the pit party, take our time down there and leave when they really start kicking people out of the pits. Then we take a bathroom break, check out the different souvenier stands, buy food and eat. There will sometimes be racing before the actual show starts with kids riding dirt bikes, amateur racers, etc. I think it is fun, especially for the kids. Also if you are a scrapbooker you can get some great shots for the scrapbook.

Is it at the Verizon Center? That is where we saw Monster Jam a few years ago. We did the pit party pass thing - it was fun. We bought a program before we went down to the "party" and brought a sharpie for autographs. The drivers signed their page in the program and took pictures with our ds. It was cool to see how big the trucks really are. We have one picture with our ds standing in front of a tire. Back when we went Medula was there - she was the hot ticket item! We wanted to see Grave Digger but he wasn't at our show. I agree with the PP - I have great scrapbook pages with the pictures that we took.

I don't know if you thought about it or not - but we brought ear plugs because it was so loud.

Are you in Birmingham? My son and dh and going this Saturday. I really wanted him to be able to go to the Pit Party, but dh had prior obligations. Should be lots of fun, though. My son is 4 and LOVES monster trucks.

I have to admit for the last 2 years we've brought our DS (4) to Monster Jam and he loves it.
The pit pass is awesome. Honestly, Monster Trucks aren't usually my thing, but it's amazing to see them up close.

I would also recommend hitting the Pit Party. The kids love it. We use to go every year. My boys have grown out of monster trucks now. Word to the wise if you want to see Grave Digger, get there early, that is usually the longest line there. It is the signature monster truck. Also, dont forget your camera. The drivers are really nice and love taking pics with the kidsl.

We loved going to the pit party. It was really neat to see the trucks up close.

Make sure you bring ear protection! We are going to the Baltimore show at the end of February.

My boys LOVED the pit party. We went last January and they are still talking about it whenever they see something with Monster Trucks - to them, anything that has a lift kit on it is a Monster Truck and we live in an area where there seems to be an over-abundance of trucks with lift kits. The photos they had were great and the kids couldn't get over how huge the Monster Trucks really were in person. I wouldn't miss it!
