In our schools we have to give 3 points of contact. So the school would have went down the listI hope you shamed the parent

We have a list of contacts we have to go down, tried home and there was no reply so got Mum on her mobile (next number down), she was shopping in a nearby town (around 15 minutes away), this was half past one. I explained that we had a problem with the fuse box, had no power and we had to close pre-school down and we needed the children picked up as soon as possible, obviously twenty to three was the earliest she felt she needed to come (we finish at three ten!).
She kicked up a fuss when she realised her child was the last one left on her own, I just politely explained that everyone else had managed to get there within half an hour!! (she had finished her shopping, gone home, put it all way and then walked to pre-school!)
What was apparent yesterday was how many out of date telephone numbers we have even though parents are asked every half term to update them! Another letter has gone out today expressing the importance of someone being available at all times.
The good thing is that it was all one big game for the children which is how it should be, my daughter is a nanny for one of the little boys concerned yesterday and she had to wait til I got home before she knew all the details as he hadn't a clue!.
