My DS-5 is obsessed with Legos. They seem to be taking over our house!!! The sets are expensive, and we can't quite keep them all together. Does anyone have any good ideas for keeping Legos organized? With Santa bringing even more Legos, I really need to come up with some kind of system for Lego storage before the holidays. Any ideas???

Thanks! :)

Clear plastic shoe boxes with lids to keep sets together (ours actually have the lid attached so it doesn't get lost). I also divide my son's "extras" into shoe boxes - for instance, all wheels will go into one, bricks into another, people and accessories into another one. I label the ones with the sets by name and then keep the instruction sheets and/or booklets in a binder.

We have a large plastic bin in which we mix all the Legos, but we don't have many sets that make something specific. Just "freestyle" sets.

We also have a small plastic container for the minifigs and their hair and hats and things.

The racks with small drawers that mechanics use to sort screws, etc. are the best, and are what professional builders use. Very few people try to keep sets together once they are disassembled, but sort the parts by size (2x2, 2x8, 1x10, 4x4, etc. Blocks vs. plates vs. minifig parts -- you get the idea.)

Keep the instructions in binders using sheet protector sleeves.

Speaking of Legos..my son LOVES Star Wars and loves Legos, so he wants all the Lego Star Wars stuff..he has a few, but took them apart. Fine..but now he wants them all together again. I managed to find the directions for all but one(and he is keeping them together now), and I can't find it ANYWHERE.
It's the Lego Star Wars TIE Interceptor

I have found directions for something that looks very similar, but is not this particular one.
They don't have it on the Lego site either-any ideas?

Right now I have all his Legos on his bedroom floor seperated into piles by color so I will only have to search through the black and blue for pieces to this one. LOL
It's been a week and I need to either find out how to put it togther or clean up his room.

We bought a "drawer tower" with wheels at Office Max. It has about 6 drawers in it. It is all plastic and my son sorts his legos by color, etc. He can roll it out to the family room when he wants or roll it into the closet, etc.
