Hi All-

When did you stop using Dreft or something simliar to wash your kid's clothes in? My DS is 2 1/2 and I still use it but I think it's more out of habit then the fact that I really need something extra sensitive. Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say!

TIA!

I never used anything "special" with any of mine. They all started right out with Tide and have never had any problems.

I used dreft that was given to me at my shower then after that was gone I used what we normally do. With my 2nd I never used it. Dreft actually has perfume in it if you read the ingrediants. I wouldn't waste my money on it

I only use laundry detergent from Melaluca for my entire family. I can not even stand to walk down the detergent isle at the store, the perfumes are just too overwhelming. My husband has always had sensitive skin so even before kids I had to find something that he would not react to and Melaluca was the ticket.

We've never used Dreft because of the cost- and- because my son's cranky skin can't handle the perfume. We've used any of the Free and Clear laundry detergents, usually the one from Costco, with a coupon. His skin tolerates the Kirkland environmentally friendly detergent, scented with lavendar, as well. I made a mistake a few times and just threw his clothes in the machine with ours (and regular detergent). Couldn't figure out why his skin was breaking out into all these red bumps! Ooops. ;)

We've used Tide Free since DD was born. She has ezcema, but the Tide Free seems to work fine. We have had to stop using dryer sheets which were irritating her ezcema though.

Never did. I've been using dye/perfume free liquid detergents for 20 years now on all our laundry, because *I* tend to be sensitive to detergents.

Doesn't seem to matter what brand it is, as long as it is the "free" type I'm good, and so are the babies.

:thumbsup2 Me too, is that stuff awesome?!?!?! I love it!!!!! I really love using only 1 squirt per load thing. :) When/if I stop using Melaluca I'll go back to Tide but for now, Melaluca is #1 for me! :)

OP I forgot to answer your question! LOL I used Dreft for the first few months but by 6 months I was using Tide, never had any problems with Tide. My DD21 doesn't use anything special for her DDs stuff, just whatever is cheapest at the time.

When DD was born in 2005 I emailed Dreft since HE was not available, they told me to use Tide Free. I used it about 1.5 to 2 years then switched to regular Tide with no problems.

Personally, I have a mild allergy to some scents. Can't use Bath and Body Works shower gel or prefume (my throat gets extrememly scratchy), but some things like Dove shower gel and deodorant are OK. I have no problems with Tide.

Never used it. Used what we used on our clothes, which is generally non-stinky stuff b/c like a previous poster, I can't easily walk down the detergent aisle. Same with the diaper aisle, but we used cloth so avoided that whole stinky thing. (used Simple Green and some washing soda on the dipes, and while it doesn't get cotton soft, it gets them clean and smelling of nothing but fabric).

I never used any special detergent for my daughter's clothes. When she was 5 months old I travelled to my hometown for Christmas. While I was there, my sister-in-law told me that I should be washing my daughter's clothes separately with special detergent. I figured it was way too late to start at that point since I'd been using whatever brand was on sale and mixing her clothes with ours ever since she was born. I said if it hasn't bothered her by now, it probably isn't going to and kept on doing what I had been doing.

Thank you everyone! I think once my bottle of Dreft is done I'm going to start washing all our stuff together! Will make my life easier

My DS has eczema and sensitive skin so we used All Free and Clear with no problem. Just a couple of months ago, I actually made my own laundry detergent that is free of dyes -- it's the Duggar Family recipe. It works great -- MUCH cheaper... I can make it for the entire year on what it costs to buy one family size bottle of the All and my DS has had no problems with his skin.

count me in as never using it either. i have psoriasis and am generally allergic to most anything with my sensitive skin so i use tide free and clear or all free and clear. whatever sams has at that moment. i use the free and clear fabric softner too, but they never have HE in my area. :sad2: i even love the clorox 2 free and clear!

i also got lucky and my derm's office was giving tide free and clear samples...we're bring those on our trip in case we have to wash anything.

DS seems to be just fine with the free and clear. i'll never go back to the normal detergents.
