Hey Everyone!

So, this morning my dad and I went in to the car dealership and picked up my first car; a brand new, 2010 Volkswagen Jetta! For anyone in the market looking for a small/midsize sedan with a lot of comfort, sport, and versatility, this is the car for you! (BTW, I'm not shilling for VW, I just think this is an awesome car, LOL)

It's small enough to maneuver in to those tight parking spots, but large enough that I can comfortably sit in it with room to spare. I'm just over 6 feet tall, and the problem I had with the Corolla, Civic, Mazda 3, etc., was that my head hit the roof even when the seat was at its lowest setting. I have the seat up pretty high on the Jetta and I have about 3 inches above my head to the roof, and the seat can go WAYYY lower too!

I got the Jetta Limited Edition, which basically takes the touch screen radio system away from the higher end models; a good way to save roughly $500! The model we purchased has the Tiptronic automatic transmission where you can switch it to manual mode for a sportier drive, a sunroof, and a protection package w/ splashguards, all weather floormats, etc.

One of my favorite features of this car is the leatherette seating. It's not REAL leather, but it's such a good imitation that I can't even tell the difference. Plus, it's really versatile in that you can wipe down the seats with a wet rag if something spills. The material is a lot more forgiving than leather.

So yeah, I just wanted to let everyone know this is a really cool, fun to drive car with a HUGE bang-for-your-buck value. If you're looking for a new car, definitely take a look at the Jetta! :)

How exciting! What color? Photos please!

My first car was a $100 piece of junk. :lmao:

Congratulations Simon! Does your Jetta have seat warmers? My old one did, and I loved them!

Congratulations - first cars are so exciting! I drive a 2005 black Jetta (not my first car, but my first "new car") and I absolutely love it.

Actually, I love it even more lately, as I was in a car accident 3 weeks ago. I was stopped at a red light, and, just as the light changed, a large Ford SUV hit me from behind and sent me sailing through the intersection. Then, they hit me again, as apparently they decided to hit the gas instead of the breaks. (Hard to ask them, as they didn't stay at the scene.) Anyhow, the car took the hits and stayed in one piece -- my trunk got smooshed in and up, the bumper ripped clean through, the muffler irreparably damaged, but my passenger and I were fine. And the car kept driving. Took it to the auto repair recommended by my insurance company and was told the cars' frame was ok, the wheels even stayed aligned. Insurance company paid the $4200 bill with no trouble, as the car holds it's value so well and is apparently easy to fix. So, to repeat myself, I love my Jetta.

I hope you have many great (and safe) road trips in your future!

It's great to know I'm driving such a safe car! My parents' main concern when looking at cars is always safety, and this one was no different. When we found it was an IIHS top safety pick last year, the deal was sealed. :)

Here are some pictures I just took! It's been pretty rainy here lately, so that's why it took awhile to get decent ones. :)
