OT: jon and Kate + 8 new house?

I can't watch it because of their constant bickering. He often seems so resentful of her and the responsibility and she is constantly complaining.
I think it is sad that there is such a demand for this show and that TLC is so willing to keep these children in a fishbowl. Their parents should let them live their lives in peace and grow up without cameras.

I could not agree with you more...

I have lost it for the show now for many reasons, but mainly because it has turned into a "look at Jon & Kate" show, and it's not so much about the kids anymore.

So sorry...I have to disagree with you...It is the "look at Kate" show.:rotfl2: It kind of reminds me of what "star" has that dog she carries around all the time?
I actually had SOME sympathy for Jon for the way she talks to him, but if he is going to not stand up for himself (or at least what the show shows), NOPE. Or does anyone think this is the way the show is edited? The kids are no longer the cute babies going through their first with twin sisters just going to school and such...they need a "hook." Besides, what ensamble (sp) cast stays as such...isn't there always a break out star?

Did any therapists donate their time for future use? Sure, at weddings often there are embarassing pictures of the bride and groom from childhood (at least where I live) or for graduation, but to have how many seasons of footage...and what isn't shown...OUCH!!!:lmao:

Someone mentioned on the Duggars thread about what will happen if one of those kids rebells...I think it would be much more interesting in the Gosselin house...Kate would probably just ban them to the abiss with Beth and Aunt Jodi.:rotfl:

Kate mentioned in one of the interviews on the show that she might adopt one day??? So maybe that'll be the new 'hook'?

Does anyone ever wonder if they just play it up for the show. Like maybe she is mean to him on purpose because they know everyone watches for it. Maybe at night they laugh about it, knowing it is just an act. Just my theory, I am hoping for her that she is not that mean of a person. I cannot imagine belittling your husband and children at times for all the world to see.

The other thing I have noticed is what little camera time is given to her actually playing with the children. Sure we always see her in the kitchen, or doing laundry, but don't they have a maid and a chef? I don't know if it is just edited to look that way but I rarely if ever actually see her just having a good time with those beautiful kids. I hope she doesn't regret cleaning the kitchen while missing her babies childhoods.

She is really like that with mostly everyone including Jon.it is not an act.I don't think she has hired help. She gets really annoyed with help and likes things just so.Unless she has seriously lightened her mood since I last saw her( when the babies were born), she is still doing mostly everything herself.

That is REALLY sad if she is that way just for the camera! Between her and Jon is one thing, but she even treats the kids like that. That would be so horrible, "OK, kids, the cameras are going to start rolling in a minute, so mommy is not going hug you, play with, or kiss ouchies...but remember mommy still loves you anyway." :crazy2: "Oh and remember your role Madie, be JUST LIKE MOMMY!"
If they are doing that for the cameras...UGH!!!

ADOPTION!!!:sad2: Well, at least the child would have Cara to mother him/her.

I know Kate is getting slammed pretty hard...and I have slammed her too for how I see her on tv. Others have commented from personal experience. I do truly hope that dispite reported abuses of family and friends and not allowing the kids in the NEW master bedroom that every night when the cameras are off she tucks each one in and tell them how much she loves them and what a blessing they are...not because each is a multiple, but because each is given to her and Jon by God to love and care for.

I tend to think it isn't. They always say that with all "reality" shows and stuff that you only think about the cameras in the begining and then your true self comes out. But you know, if she is pretending, I almost think that is worse. To be nasty to your family for the sake of ratings? Plus, I would think that if it was not in your nature you would at least some point slip and not be that way.

Either way, I think it is very sad...

I agree with both sides. I used to love watching the show, but now it isn't a reality show. It's just another show showing the lives of celebrities. Sure their kids are still adorable, but I don't like Kate and Jon needs to grow a backbone. Those kids will never have a "normal" life and I feel sorry for them. It is funny how it shows her clipping coupons and "budget" grocery shopping. Yet, they can afford a house like that.

They have not shown her doing any bargain shopping lately. I miss that. There was a mini-marathon a few days back showing the very early episodes before they "gamourized" (pre-hairplugs, teeth whitening, tummy tucks, new hair) - it was nice. Ahhh, the good ol' days.

Oh, I guess Jon no longer works for Beth and her husband. :confused3 When he left the IT job, that's where they said he was working for because he was able to do flex-hours and spend more time with the kids & Kate during the day.

And I finally saw the pics of the house. Holy Buckets! I realize they need room, but really?! There are thousands of other families with that many children and more and don't live in a house like that.

I just saw the newest commercial where Kate opens the new front door and says" Welcome, all the world to my house!". Ugh. Is she trying to keep up with Beth & her husband?

I have watched the show a few times...when I just happened across it and thought wow she's not very nice to her dh and she seems so controlling of everyone. That being said I had no idea that they lived only about 1 hour from where we live! I just hope that one day they don't regret doing the show and exposing their lives to the world.

As long as do not track in ANY grass (and if you might Jon will carry you) AND follow each and every rule to the T...O, and yell loud enought for her to know which bathroom you are in.:lmao:

Didn't know Jon worked for Beth's husband, not that it impacts my life. Do they(beth) have a big house or something? I think I remember seeing them seasons ago at her house with a big staircase. If you ask me, which no one did, Aunt Jodi's house seemed plenty large even with the 8 coming to play with her kids. :confused3 Guess the needs and wants of everyone vary.

I used to watch this show every week...from the very beginning when it was just a special. Used to. Partly, I've stopped because of the eyerolling and sighing my husband does if he even HEARS Kate's voice on the televsion. And partly because it's not even based in reality any longer. I can agree with needing alot of space when you have alot of kids. I have 5 kids, none the same age, but it doesn't matter. However...my grandparents had 7 and my IL's had 9 and they lived in normal sized houses with the kids sharing a room. And guess what??? They all lived through it and were better for it because someone didn't hand them everything they ever wanted on a silver platter. It's really sad that she acts the way she does when she has so many blessings. Blessings she wouldn't have had but for medical intervention. There are plenty of people out there who would thank their lucky stars every day to have all those healthy and happy kids...even if they lived in a 2 bedroom bungalow. My dh calls Jon something that I cannot post on the DIS...but it has something to do with a cat..if you get my drift. And it is totally true! I just thought he was figuring it was easier to agree with her than to argue..but no...she's browbeat that man into submission! I watched the episode where they told the kids they were moving. And I almost cheered during one part where Jon was watching the kids on a blow up slide/ball pit toy and he was asserting himself and being firm with them, instead of following along behind Kate, shoulders hunched with a hang dog look on his face.

I'm sorry for those of you who actually knew/know her, or tried to volunteer your time and got treated poorly. Noone should ever treat people who are giving up their time to make their lives easier in such a cruddy way.:flower3:

Kate mentioned in one of the interviews on the show that she might adopt one day??? So maybe that'll be the new 'hook'?

YEAH, she and Jon both did not deny possible adoption one day on the last interview show (last week episode I think). Well, at least that explains the need for the extra large house :)

oh well you live you learn.I feel for those kids and would help out again for their sake..But I wouldn't pee on Kate if she was on fire.Jon was always very nice and friendly to all of the helpers though.

Anyone claiming that the family needs that mansion just because they have 8 children should have their head examined... I am second to the youngest in a family of 15 - we're all grown now but we made it just fine in a normal size house and if one can imagine, 2 bathrooms and sometimes only 1 working bathroom! Yes, we waited in line to do everything but it was just a normal part of growing up and learning to share a lot, including space. There are a lot of large families living in America surviving on an average income, making some sacrifices, and pitching in to help when things need done. Growing up, we ate out once a year at McDonald's because Grandma sent us money to do it and it was the greatest thing every year! Kids don't need all the stuff they have, including my own. I, for one, chose not to have such a brood. Four children is enough but I am a SAHM so if I learned nothing else growing up with a large family, I learned how to make it on one income like my mother did! :flower3:

I know im a bit discusted with the show lately. I really used to like to but watching it more & more, Kate is like a drill seargent and treats Jon like ----. I dont think there are any acts between Jon & Kate, i really do believe she is a nervous nelly about everything. I cant believe they would aire this show especially the way Kate is and the way she acts sometimes and is progressively getting worse. Plus like the above poster said they are just like every other millionaire celebrity now and i just dont have the same feeling about them, especially after seeing the new house and all the things they do to make money such as writing books, etc......I also found the episode for viewers questions a little weird. I felt they gave very brief answers. Not like the first question show they had which was a bit better. It was like she was very condescending. As i was watching t.v. today i was changing channels and saw Kate with her pregnant belly for a preview of Entertainment Tonight(I came across it during the end of whatever it was) but i was saying to myself "now what" she is going to be on E.T.

The house is beautiful & they are very fortunate to have it, but they have traded a lot in terms of privacy & public oppinion for financial security. I don't blame them, I'm just saying, it didn't come for free.

As for the fridge- it would probably take me four hours to brush my teeth if I had 8 kids interrupting me.

I can completely understand the need for a bedroom to themselves. They have 8 kids & a film crew there. I didn't need to hear it 6 times, but whatever.

Kate doesn't worry about making people feel warm & fuzzy, & this episode was no exception. I'm sure the previous owners were embarassed. That said- they didn't muck out those stalls, so maybe they had it coming. I wouldn't have left a barn like that.

I love their show. Their kids are so darn cute!!!! I watch it on mute sometimes just so I can see those cute kids!

As for their house.... it is amazing. I really want to see the kids' rooms.

Now, I don't really see much wrong with what they're doing. Them having their own TV show is better Dina Lohan and so many other parents shoving their children into the spotlight. At least they aren't really impacting their kids' lives... making them work. All their kids have to do is be themselves. They have eight children to support.... they have to make money somehow. Like someone else has said, they're very intelligent. They get mostly free vacations to promote hotels and attractions. Apparently they've made enough to buy a new house. But, Jon still works. And Kate stays at home with all of those kids - no nanny.

I do wonder how Kate's gonna manage in this big house.... with a pool. She's such a safety/germ nut.... and pools are just lurking with bacteria (not to mention, on the episode when they went to NC for July 4th, she freaked when Collin kept dipping his foot in the pool). Their current living conditions were cramped.... they needed to expand. And their new home is hardly a mansion compared to many other American homes.

I don't feel like they rub their money in your face. I mean... vacations and moves make me want to watch. (See..... they know what they're doing.... and I see nothing wrong with that. Walt Disney knew what he was doing. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet know what they're doing. There's no use fussing over other people's success.)
