So, I get home tonight after the boys were with the babysitter. I look over at our countertop (only 7 months old) and see 2 dozen sugar cookies laying out. I proceed to go try and pick one up.....stuck to the counter.

So I ask, "Huh, these are stuck to the counter."
The sitter replies, "Yeah, I laid them there to cool off when I took them off of the cookie sheet."

Umm........sure. :confused3

I'm a bit dumbfounded. Is it just me (please tell me if so)? Or does this strike anyone else as extremely odd?

Either leave the cookies on the pan on a hot pad or put them on a cooling sheet. Sounds a little odd to me.

I am not a cook but even I am like :confused3 babysitter should stick to sitting babies LOL

that not only sounds odd, it sounds kinda stupid. why would she put them on the counter like that? not on a platter or a plate?

I just made cookies for Easter. you leave them on the sheet to cool. that ism if she thought to put wax paper.....

:confused::confused::confused:

Very!

Maybe she couldn't find your cooling rack or whatever you use!

Nice thought to make cookies with your kids, but maybe more forethought needed!

Perhaps she was never taught any cooking skills.

They are young, our baby sitter cleaned up vomit with a regular vacuum cleaner. That was fun!

I agree she probably didn't know better. But holy crap she made a lot of cookies!

Yummm Cookies.

Did they taste ok once you scraped them off the counter?

I once had a sitter who made popcorn the "old fashoned" way. In a pot with oil. She did not, however put a lid on. Pop corn was flying. Once the popping got going she moved the kids away but it was popping so fast and she could not find lid. The kids cracked up. It was a mess but the kids had a laugh. I guess she only kney how to make microwave popcorn!

If your sitter is a teen, their frontal lobe is not fully developed yet. You have to cut them some slack. This is my mantra when dealing with my two teenagers. No offense meant to any teens with fully formed frontal lobes, but I still remember doing really stupid things and thinking they were a good idea at the time. Wait- that was yesterday.

Oh my!!! :scared1: My housemate once cleared up a broken vodka bottle with the vacuum once, with most of the vodka still on the floor! I won't forget the smell that vacuum made for the rest of the year!

Can beat that, I know a 20 year old who thought you made toast by putting bread in the microwave!!!

It turns out common sense isn't all that common!
