I know there are oodles of locals that post here, so I thought this would be a good place to ask about one...

We are considering a move to Florida, and could use some contacts.

Thanks

Thanks for the link.

My head is swimming with all the different areas.

Windermere Clermont possibly Davenport

also

Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs, other Senimole county areas Winter Springs Oviedo

Schools are our first priority. And we would prefer a well established area and not totally cookie cutter development.

Orlando is the land of urban sprawl...where are you going to be working? You don't want to be too far away from your job.

I am learning all about sprawl lol

Right now I have to say Windermere is in the lead, but that's today, give me a minute and that will change :lmao:

My Husbands commute currently is 45 min to an hour depending on weather and my old commute was an hour on a good day, so we are not scared of a commute.

Our wants...

Good school district
Close to the parks
More established sub division... trees
Interesting downtown.... cheap movie theater
It would be great if there was a playground within biking distance, and or bike trails

haha not much

I have been wishful shopping :lmao: and this is a pretty good site ziprealty.com

have you worked with any national real estate companies in the past, if so ask for a recommendation for one of their offices in Florida. Then ask whatever agency/agent u r considering for references & follow up on them.

make sure u work with both somebody on the multi-list system & who is a Realtor, not just a real estate agent...we are held to higher standards;)

if possible get Realtor with extra accredidations (i.e. education & experience)

ABR – Accredited Buyer Representative (u sign a contract, the agent then works for u, not the seller as the norm)

GRI - Graduate of the Realtor Institute

CRS - Certified Resident Specialist

good luck, def a buyer's market right now

Thanks so much for that info keishashadow!!

Our Realtor here is a good friend of ours, I will ask him if he knows anyone down there, but still hoping that some DISer knows a good one.

Laura...I'm going to PM you the name and phone # of my realtor...be on the lookout for it.

Awesome thanks!

Let her know I am a real pain in the asterisk, who has a way too good idea of what she wants and at some point in the coming weeks will swoop down and expect to see no less that 50 properties in 2 days. :lmao:

:thumbsup2

Nah...I'll let her discover that on her own. :rotfl:

I do not want to step on any toes, however my family has owned their own real estate firm in South Florida for 25+ yrs and they have many contacts with great agents all across the state. If you don't find what you are looking for, just let me know and I'd be happy to have them contact you with a recommendation.

Have you heard back from her? Is she still in real estate?

Metro,

I talked with her this afternoon and she seems very nice. She lives in Lake Mary and that is one of the areas we are looking at, so she will be quite helpful! Thanks!!

If they move down, I'll have to start taking her to the Mt. Dora zoo...AKA Renninger's flea market. :rotfl:
