OT-I am SUCH a work in progress

I know the feeling - I am too. I think you are progressing faster than me though. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Ahh yes but think about how boring life would be if we where all perfect all the time:upsidedow

You know what is funny? Since last year I have been in college full time to become a social worker. This is all great, but most of the course content is focusing on ourselves. At 40, I have a lot of stuff in my past that I have had to look at and examine how I became to be who I am.

It is all very deep, and I thought I am ok with all my baggage, but each day I am amazed at how much I learn. This is all in an effort to be a better helper to someone else without putting my own issues on someone. And to be aware how my own values influence how I might respond to someone with similar issues.

At this age, I am still growing and learning and very aware of myself. I am loving it though. One thing I have learned though is that I am a perfectionist-- which means that nothing I do is perfect, because the harder I try to make it perfect the more I mess it up because I am stressed. lol:confused3

But I am learning WHY I have these tendencies and it is all very interested and revealing. To be learning this much about myself at this age is amazing, overwhelming, and wonderful. :upsidedow

Which is why I cannot wait to go to Disney. JUST MICKEY,ME, MY SON  :santa: :dance3:

YEAH!!!!

Hi All ~ I'd love to have a weekend retreat with all us work-in-progress gals.
:hippie:

That would be a neat experience for sure.

Sandra, I was wondering have you ever read the book "The Four Agreements"?

I had to read this for college and write a paper on this book and how it related to me, and at first I was so cynical about the book, but by the time I finished my paper, it really changed how I viewed a lot of things in my life. It was really a good experience reading that book.

Yeppers, I've read and re-read the Four Agreements. I love that type of stuff!

Right now I'm reading "Pagan Christ" by Tom Harpur.

Some other authors I like are:

Marianne Williamson [especially Return to Love]
Caroline Myss
Wayne Dyer
Deepak Chopra
Jack Kornfield
Eckhart Tolle
Star Hawk

Blessings, Sandra

I haven't read anything that isn't required reading for college. lol

So I haven't read any of those authors either. But I would like to as soon as I have some free time.

I thought you might have read that book. I really am glad I read it, and will re-read it again.

Stephanie

If you get the chance, Return to Love by Marianne Williamson is a great book. You can also get the CD audio book at most libraries. Blessings, Sandra
