JAX is 2.5 hours from WDW. From the airport, it's closer to 3 hours depending on traffic.

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Gainesville area? I think we can get that far and stop for the night. So the next day Disney is a short trip and we will all be refreshed and ready!!

There are lots of hotels at the 3 main Gainesville exits, but I've never stayed at any of them. If you drive an extra 45 miles, you can get off at FL 200, near Ocala. There is a hotel there that I've stayed at a few times - it used to be a Budgetel, but they've changed the name to Bay-something. There are other hotels at that exit as well, but I've never stayed at them. The exit is only about 10 miles or so from the exit for the Florida Turnpike.

There used to be a Disney travel center there, I don't know if it is still open or not.

There are plenty of hotels in Gainesville. There's a pretty nice Holiday Inn Express and I've stayed at the Hampton Inn, too, which wasn't bad.

There is a home football game at UF on the 30th (UF vs. San Jose State), though, which could make it hard to get a hotel reservation.

The Fairfield Inn is supposedly new and nice. It would be cheaper than the Hampton Inn. We are staying there on our way home from the Disney Cruise. My best friend lives in G'ville and she says it is nice.
