OT - House Pictures...

A good strong foundation is the best start! :sunny:

Well it seems to be coming along!
Good size!!

Patty, where is the house going to be? (state). Foundations are the very start of our dreams! Good luck in the coming months! And remember, DON'T keep changing/adding to plans.. or else you'll really have NO $$$$$ to feed your scrap addiction :)

Remember when breathing, in thru the nose out thru the mouth :rotfl:

aaaahh the benefit as having hubby as a General Contractor I can add/change to my heart content until materials are ordered ;)
I just get the eyes rolling deep sigh thing ;)
Although I think we added and changed enough when drawingup plans that we should be pretty set now :rotfl:

hhhmm "foundations are the start of our dreams" might just make a great title for the pages when I get to starting that album

We are in MA.

most important question - is the scrapping room large enough? i know you have enough materials to fill it!!

bbbaaahhh - I only need a 4x6 space as I also am fond of collecting 'organizing' things....
but It is yet to be determined where I will have a space
WORST case senerio it is an 11x12 room in the basement :flower:
Which believe it or not I am not leaning towards this space over the larger, windowed room above the 3 car garage... as the kids play room is in the basement and I would probably have more ability to sneak in while they are playing nice! When I have people and need more room not like I couldn't just take over the rest of the basement ;)

Patty - Cool pics! Thanks for sharing. Good luck!

Woohoo! You're getting there girl. Is that black stuff on the walls the "tar" you had to put on last weekend?

Patty, before you know it, you'll be going for framing and rough inspections! I was bored with the whole process until the walls started going up and then I got excited! Keep those pictures coming!!!

Patty - Great pics! We spent two months and $10k on hauling dirt, so I understand your pain! Your lot looks huge! The trend here in MI is small lots and close neighbors. We're going to see how it works out for us.

And, we luck out with husbands as General Contractors - we always get new houses!

Don't forget, the first decisions are the hardest ones. As long as you can agree on paint color, all is fine! And the size of your scrapbook room, of course. That's pretty important too.

With no kids, I've got one room upstairs for my scrapbook stuff and one room for all of my Disney stuff. I'm not sure which one I'm more excited about!!!

Good luck building!

THe DIRT - augh don't know about you but we have the truck and a 310 tractor for the job and it seems like it is taking forever - who would have thought! The back fill is OFFICALLY done today :cool1: :cool1: ... I don't know how lucky we really are though - everyone elses 'paying' work seems to come first - lol kinda like the cobblers kids have no shoes!'
my scraproom isn't huge (I have three kids to keep around for a while - then I will take over one of those big rooms - lol) - but handy as it is DH USE to be a cabinet installer and can do my countertops and it wil be a VERY efficient room! 10x12 I think - I designed it on that website already :teeth:
Do you have any new pictures! I would love to see them - you must be getting REALLY close to move in date!
I am just excited to be talking windows and siding and roofing not DIRT :earboy2:

Just found this thread!

At least you have a foundation so far. Our road isn't even graded or paved yet. So I don't think we are going to be in by Christmas at this rate.

I'll try to remember to pop in here once in a while to find an update.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SplshMtn99 where are you building :confused3
are you scrapping any more?

paved driveway :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
might be 20 years before I see pavement on ours - it's 750 feet of gravel! :earboy2:

eddited to add that we will be LUCKY to be in by this time next year!

We are moving into a new custom built ranch style condo in Whitinsville. (Sample pics in signature from similar project he completed last yr.) We are SUPPOSED to be one of the first buildings in this new phase.

It'll be 1500 sq ft ranch w/ 2 car garage on same level....and 1500 sq ft walk-out basement with MOST of the basement finished. 3 bed / 3 bath total when done. Intent is to have room for a parent to move in when time comes. If & when a parent moves in, we will move to the basement. They will have the 1st flr. We'll share the kitchen. Basement will have bedroom & bath. Huge family room open to include hot tub area w/ fireplace near slider; computer alcove; and kitchenette. I think I've spent more time thinking about the "basement" than anything else. LOL

I'm not really scrapping much at all this year. But I do plan on having my scrap area set up in the 2nd bedroom which we'll be using as an office instead. I still look at layouts online. I've let CK subscription lapse. And I don't shop anymore. GASP!!!! ;) I'll get back to it SOMEDAY in my own form of scrapping one way or another.

Good luck!!!
Oh...and be sure to post more house pics. We on the CB really like house building threads!! LOL

WOW - that is sooo kewl!
We are thinking of the inlaws too - if you looked carefully at the pictures it look like a BIG L to the right of the garage is the main house (4 bedroom and too many bathrooms - lol)
Above the garage will EVENTUALLY get finished as a game room and the second floor only have 1 bed/bath a catwalk over the great room and then a 'library' (office)
behind the garage on the L is the inlaw for MY inlaws!\
Ours will be a walkout - although the land isn't conducive to it - we are making a ramp with a retaining wall. My scrap room will be down there - near the kiddo's playroom! I am soooo looking forward to it!

How is the market down there in Whitinsville?? Hear it is outrageous cuz of the RTE 2 access for Boston commuters.

I just posted at the community board too ;) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=882627 lots of pictures of the what the house should look like and layouts etc....

Patty, the market in Whitinsville is just as crazy. I currently live in Oxford. One exit from MA Pike, so even this town is growing. Putting in $800,000 houses in a town with a pretty low average income.

Whitinsville is sort of the same.

I'm glad we locked in our buying price last November. Even though I thought it was high then, he has already raised selling prices of units to be built after us. So we already have equity. LOL

AND, while we've been waiting to list this place, the prices have continued to climb here too.!! And we owe very little on what's left of our mtg. Walking out with ALOT of equity.

We also locked in our mortgage rate back in May --- special loan (not a construction loan)....and we have the rate locked for up to 1 yr waiting to close on purchase. So far, everything has worked in our favor. I just which the prices weren't so high to begin with.

My biggest fear is prices will start coming down before we list / sell.
