I have no idea if this question is allowed on the boards...if it isn't I apologize and please delete it I will understand!

We are trying to plan a quick 3-4 day trip down to San Antonio and I decided to check prices for hotels on sites like hotels.com and expedia. I have never purchased a room from sites like this. Have any of you and was the experience okay? I would hate to pay for the room and get down there and have them say no, no reservation or oh yeah, the shack out back with the cot is your room!

TIA!

I've used hotels.com with no problems. Keep in mind though that when you book with hotels.com you pay at the booking while most hotels charge you when you check out. I have used hotels.com before as a search engine and then book directly with the hotel to avoid this if the price was close enough. Both ways worked out each time I have done it.

i reserved a room in New York City for my daughter for last september using Expedia..
i was very nervous about doing it, but the rate was less than half of what i could get at the same hotel either by phone or on the hotel's website..

so i went ahead and booked it through expedia....i was really worried she'd get there and not have a room...
but it all turned out fine....the hotel had the reservation on record, and it was all paid for in advance....no additional charges..

she even was upgraded to a better room at no extra charge...

I use the sites to price but usually book directly with the hotel or airline. Sometimes, I have found better deals directly than with the "discount sites"

I use hotels.com to find availability and then book directly on the hotel's website. I just did that last week to book a couple of nights in San Antonio!

I've used Orbitz and Expedia and never had any problems.
