I was planning on using Airmiles to fly 5 people to Sault Ste Marie (ON) for my sister's wedding, but airmiles only has space for 1 (!) on the plane. So now I am seriously bummed. She kindly offered to let me buy the other 4 tickets for a measly $1993.76 :scared1:

I swear, if I have to drive to BUF to fly to Sault Ste MArie USA and drive back across the border for a cheap flight I will! There is no way I am paying $2000 to go to my sister's wedding ( :guilty: ).

So, anyone have any thought on cheap flights?

Try www.flyertalk.com and our transportation board here.

I lived up there for a year and drove most of the time unless my company was paying!

Good luck!

I hear you! I'm from the Soo but live in Southern Ontario now. Driving was our only choice as the price for flying was insane. But now that the prices for gas are insane...... ?

Hey, I am from the Soo too! I live in eastern Ontario now though. Flying home is not in my budget for sure, I always drive. It is long but cheaper for sure. Besides I don't really care for the puddle jumpers they call planes that fly into the Soo.

CanadianPaco, when did you live in the Soo?

Hi Back!
I left the Soo to go to U of T in 1987 after graduating from the Mount. After university I settled in Woodstock where I've been ever since.
And you..? :wave2:

I left in 1994 after graduating from Algoma U. I went to the Dunn (grad of '83) but a few of my friends went to the Mount. (I lived quite close to the Mount) Small world!
Do you get back to the Soo often?

My son is in the Soo now-the flights are ridiculous. We have gotten $99. flights but have paid as much as $400. one way. He tries to get a ride home or my husband will do the 20 hour return trip to pick him up. He's at Sault College in the aviation program so one day he'll be able to fly himself.LOL Keep checking the Air Canada web page, sometimes all of a sudden a cheap flight will appear. Good luck.

We get back a few times a year and my folks come down about the same. It's a 7hrs drive door to door. We drive up through Michigan, crossing at Port Huron/Sarnia. It's a nicer drive from where we are - divided highways, rest stops every 30-45min. And you?
