Ok i need help

My 27 month old has for the last 5 nights removed all her clothing and diaper every night and every nap time. She is not potty trained yet, we tried last month and she had no interest what so ever. I was going to try after we go to disney but is this her way of telling us it is time for potty. I ask her about it and she always say no potty and nothing happens when i put her on it various times a day. Now her bed has not been wet at all every time this happens and her diaper usually is wet.

What is going on, all the books just say it is a phase but after 5 days i am at a loss what to do. Duct tape the diaper on?????

Help

We also went through this and tried everything. ( putting their diapers on backwards, duct tape, several clothing layers, putting their sleeper on backwards. ) They always got naked. Worst yet, I have triplets and it would happen usually at nap time. I would think they would be sleeping because all was quiet. I would open the door and it was GROSS! They would all do the same thing. They were about 16 - 18 months at the time.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Well the good news is it is just a phase. The bad news is it has nothing to do with potty training. My daughter went thru this phase and it lasted a month or two.

Try putting the diaper on backwards, so the tape is in the back. That is enough for most kids. For my dd I had to put a onsie on her, until she figured out how to get the diaper off with the onsie still on. LOL I didn't ever use duck tape, but my aunt had to with one of hers. I just preferred to deal with the mess.

My daughter to this day does not wear pajamas. She just hates sleeping in them. I gave up the fight when she was about 4.

Probably not much you can do - and I have an MS in Child Development - but have to tell you that is one adorable child.

But practically speaking she is over 2 so she can understand you when you tell her she has to keep them on...so perhaps you could set uup a reward system that works for her. Really hard with those little ones and of course I don't know her communication abilities but I would start with something like that. I will also tell you at that age the reward will have to be instant - so it would be if she keeps her diapers/clothes on til morning she get....whatever - it can't be m&ms after lunch - she will want her reward right when she gets up.

On the bright side it will make for a great story to embarrass her with when she is a teen!

My 6 y/o did this from 10 months on.I tried everything,backwards/duct tape etc.I do have to say she potty trained herself at 2 She hated being wet and would take the diaper off at the first pee.Very expensive since she broke out with anything except pampers. My only suggestion since she s older and usually dry is a waterproof mattress pad and thick underwear

Well i guess i am in good company

I will have to try a few things and hope for the best.

too bad they don't made a peeing smiley, be appropriate right now.

Hehe - my daughter did this for about 6 weeks - it was several months ago. She did it ALL THE TIME. Yep, we taped the diaper on - I'm an Ebayer, and the Priority Tape actually worked better than regular packing tape.

She's now 27 months and it's no longer a problem.

is she hot? do you have air conditioning? just a guess but maybe she is getting hot when she sleeps.

I hope this phase is a short one because I am going through the same thing.I am glad that someone said something about this not being related to potty training My DH thinks I should potty train her-That this is her way of telling me.I am not ready to try to potty train a 17 mth old but told him he could.

A friend of mine got Pajamas from the Gap that snap all the way up and put them on backwards every night. From then on, her DD could not get them off. Good luck!

Just my two cents, but thinking that she might be hot/uncomfortable?
Or when she does pee in the diaper, the wetness bothers her, which may be a sign that she's ready for potty training. Notice the "may" part.

Maybe try some different pj's. I would definetly invest in a plastic waterproof mattress pad too

my youngest is 3 1/2 and went through this as well. At least for him I think it had more to do with having some control over something and less to do with potty training readiness. He was seriously not ready for training, just an "I do it b/c I can" thing with him. He still occasionally does this now. He will be playing happily in the playroom one minute and when I peek in on him again 10 minutes later he's still happily playing but now he's naked and happily playing. At least now it's happening during the day and he's trained so no messes!

We did the diaper on backwards thing and only taped it on twice. That made him MAD so after that I just had to threaten that if he took it off I was going to come put it back on and use my tape (and to reinforce the point, the roll of tape stayed on top of his armoire "just in case").

Hope you find a solution!
