I am looking for a good message board for maui hotel and condos
I am looking mostly in Wailea and Kihei. The Grand Wailea is out of my price range even though it is where I really want to stay. We are looking to go the summer of 2006

If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The Grand Wailea has some good deals every once in a while--you can check on their website and join their hotel club so they'll send you emails of the specials. I like the aol travel boards for Hawaii but I don't know if you have aol.... :wizard:

Hi, i have been looking at hawaii lately and www.tripadvisor.com has some great info. Also, some guidebooks called the uncovered guides - eg uncovered guide to maui etc have been highly recommended. Good luck searching - i want to go there for my honeymoon next year - feel free to pm me if you want to exchange info.

I would go to www.fodors.com and follow the link to talk, and then search Hawaii. Pick up the Blue Book or Maui Revealed by Wizard Pub. There are excellent suggestions. I don't know if you are looking for a condo or hotel. We have done both. After doing both, with the hotel twice, we definately prefer condos but in a resort area. We found an ocean view condo at the Ka'anapali Alii for next summer for $342 per night. We love the location, right next door to the Mariott and like being able to prepare some meals. Look on VRBO. There are quite a few very good condos in S. Kihei for less but we are going with our sons and they enjoy Ka'anapali Beach. We find its more convenient to Lahaina town. Have fun looking.

We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea, which is 2 hotels down from the Grand Wailea, and were very pleased. In fact after dining at the Grand Wailea (our first choice) we were very happy that we had chosen the Kea Lani instead. We booked through travel-hawaii.com and the price we got was much less then our local TA's and travel websites had quoted us for lower quality hotels! Travel-Hawaii was wonderful all around and I would not hesitate to recommend them. We also wandered through the Maui Prince on our way to a snorkel excursion, and while they have lesser amenities compared to the large resorts (small pool, etc) their beach is phenomenal (you can swim right out to the sea turtles), the grounds were lovely, and for some of the prices (they sometimes offer great discount paskages) I would not hesitate to stay there.

Thanks everyone

I tried Travel-Hawaii but I could only get rates with a car included?? Is there any way to get it without? I haven't had time to contact them directly, just going off what is on their website

We had to change our dates to later in the summer and Grand wailea had rooms for $365 per night. I think that is a good rate for that hotel correct?
