If so, how long did it take for them to go away? Did you do anything special for it? Had a few, years ago now I have another one in my right eye and it is annoying as all heck.

I have them (I'm 35 yo). I went to the optometrist last summer about them and he did some funky exam that was different than the usual (can't remember what it was called)...anyway, he said it's just "dirt caught in the jelly of my eyes" and it may or may not ever go away. Niiiiice.

I agree. Annoying.

Yeah, that's what they told me too- they won't ever go away. I noticed my first one right after the birth of my second son (I was 29). I guess I have gotten used to it somewhat. It is much, much worse when I am in a room with white walls or sparce decorations.

I have one in my right eye, it comes and goes during the day. It drives me absolutely insane! :lmao: I am terrified of bugs, and when I turn my head and see the floater, I always think it's a bug and run or duck :rolleyes1 People at work think I am crazy :rotfl2:

Well don't let anyone tell you that they aren't real. Floaters can be anything from something in your eye to a neuro-opthamologic (?) problem. If your eye-dr. can't figure out the cause try a different dr. There is a whole section about drs. not taking patients seriously on this subject in a book called "The Man Who Tasted Shapes" by Dr. Richard Cytowic.

I had that - I had a tear in my retna. not like tear drops. Like a tear in paper. (wow, I hate the english language)

I have a bunch. I've had them since I was a kid. I guess they're pretty common in nearsighted people. They never go away but you do get used to them.

Yep their not uncommon and for a lot of people they come and go. I have a genetic issue that causes retinal degeneration. I pretty much have them all the time. People think your crazy when you swat at things that aren't there!

I got one after my LASIK procedure. It has been about 5 years and I can still see it sometimes.

I work on a computer all day and get them every so often.....and honest-truth, they popped up while reading this thread.

My dad (now early 60's) has had retina problems over the last few years. Worried that all my book-reading, computer-working has me doomed for serious eye problems in the future.

Ugh.

I had one a few years ago and the eye doc told me that it was nothing to worry about, they can come and go. It eventually went away on it's own.

I know that sometimes they can be more serious, so I would go see your eye doc to make sure.

Definitely get it checked out by an eye doc.

I do get them and have gotten them for oh, at least 15 years... I learned to ignore them but they sometimes still get annoying.... :headache:

I've experienced floaters off and on since I was a child... pretty common in people with myopia.. I would get checked by an opthalmologist just in case since a sudden appearance of floaters, or more floaters than normal can indicate a serious problem...my daughter lost her sight completely in one eye from a retinal detachment...

Whenever I have a floater, I shift my eyes from left to right, up and down, all around...that seems to help get the floaters out of my line of vision..
