OT: hardwood floors that hold up to dog nails?

There are spray cleaners made for hardwood and laminate floors, you spray on and dry mop, like a swifter but the mop cloths you wash in the washing machine instead of throwing away. You aren't supposed to wet mop them. I have laminate in my kitchen and that is where my dog stays at night and when we are working. I dont follow the no wet mop rule because I feel like the other way doesn't get them as clean so I use a gallon of water and spray about 5 sprays of windex in and mop the floors once a week. But I squeeze as much water as I can out of the mop before it hits the floor and work in small sections and immediately dry with an old towel so that there is no standing water on the floors. It's a pain in the butt but my floors look brand new and a lot better than the actual hardwood we have on the rest of the first floor.

Thanks for the tips! We picked out the floor last weekend. We went with a faux exotic cherry. The floor guy gave us several boards to put down in our house and live with for a few days. I like it. It is glossy and shows smudges but it looks so real. Also I dropped the dog's knuckle bone on it and it gouged the heck of it the board! So he can only use the knuckle bones outside now. Looking forward to getting rid of the carpet even though I know I'm going to be cleaning floors more often. My dh tried to clean the carpet and nothing but black came out. He never got it clean. :crazy2:

I'm constantly cleaning the tile in the kitchen where the dog comes in from outside. I have no idea how he tracks in so much dirt. Our last golden never did that. Thanks for the advice! It's a lot of money so I hope we love it!

I wouldn't purchase a flooring material that dented just by dropping a dog bone on it. You're in for trouble if you go with that flooring. If a knuckle bone dents that, it is a VERY soft material. High heels and accidentally dropping anything will ruin your floor.

I don't know. Those bones are wickedly heavy and they have sharp points where he's chewed them. I tried dropping forks, chairs, toys, etc. on it and only the bone made a dent in it.
