Hi ~ We are packing up the kids, dog and tent and heading East this summer. If everything stays the same, this might be our only opportunity to by gypsies for a summer.

We are heading for PEI from Mississauga, stopping in Cornwall, Ontario to visit my sister and mother.

Please suggest INEXPENSIVE FAMILY camping for us along the way.

We'd like to stop in Quebec City and several days in PEI.

Thanks! Sandra

Try Twinshores.com for a great campground on PEI. Wouldn't call it cheap necessarily but it's fabulous. We stay for a week there every year. Most sites have trees all the way around (private), clean bathrooms, tennis, movies, chocolate bar bingo, shuffle board, horseshoes, private beach, etc.

It's near Cavendish as well. I believe about an hour north of the bridge.

Hope this helps!

Check out www.gov.ns.ca and click on Travel - there is an online doers and dreamers guide that lists all of the campgrounds...great opportunity to ride the ferry from PEI to NS, travel the Cabot Trail and have a visit to Halifax.

We've stayed at TwinShores in PEI as well. It is nice, but seems to be getting overgrown now. It's hard to get a RV in some of the sites now. As well, it isn't close to the tourist areas like Cavendish. However, it is a nice campground nonetheless. We've also stayed at Marco Polo Land in PEI. It is also nice, very big, and very close to the tourist areas.

In NB, you could stay in the Yogi Bear Campground, near Woodstock. Once you get near Moncton, there are many campgrounds in the area.

I used to live just outside Cornwall, in Ingleside, and I think you'll have a great trip. I live in NB now, nad have done it many times.

Have fun!

Early July is booked up for a Tim McGraw/Reba McIntyre concert.

Expecting about 25,000. 2nd weekend in July I believe.

Twin shores is a great spot.

I guess it also depends on what you are camping in. Tent or camper. I would certainly do Twin Shores with a tent, where you are more enclosed. Marco Polo is more open and field-like and perhaps better for a large RV.

Twin Shores is not right in Cavendish, but is certainly not far. I would say no more than a 20 minute drive, but maybe I'm wrong. We tend not to leave the campground for much as there is a lot to do on the premises.

I would look at PEI tourism for an informed opinion.
