The last of my Christmas cards were received by my friends in the U.S. - YESTERDAY!!! :confused3

I mailed them on Monday December 19th and handed them to the girl at the Canada Post at Shopper's. I put the correct postage, regular card, even put "Air Mail" stamps on them. I know it was a little late for all the mail volume and expected them to receive them the week of Dec 26th!

My friends in Georgia got their cards on January 10th or so.

My friend in Alabama got her's YESTERDAY - January 23rd!!!

Gives a new meaning to "SNAIL MAIL"

I guess they really needed that price increase to stamps - to buy food for the horse that pulls the stagecoach!!

It takes less than a day for them to reach the US border. This one you can blame on USPS.
Cards I sent to Britain Dec 19 - actually reached their homes by Dec 23 (a few) and the rest the week of the 26th. We're getting calls now from our US contacts saying they received their Christmas cards last week! Hmmm. . . Northern Ireland 4 days. . . Minnesota 5 weeks. . .

It's not only the US to blame.... my mil (lives in Toronto) mailed my ds' birthday card on Jan 3rd to Guelph. His birthday was on the 10th and as of today (Jan 24) we still have not recieved it. Try explaining to a 6yo why he never got a birthday card from gramma and papa!! Must be awfully old horses that pull that stage coach... perhaps the price increase was to get younger horses!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

I am waiting for a package thru Canada Post that I tracked last Thursday to be in Mississauga. Mississauga is only 45mins away from us, and it has been 2.5 days and no package. This was a birthday present for my son. Yesterday was his birthday. I am glad he only turned 3. He doesn't care his present isn't here yet, but I do!!

Snail mail ?? I agree!!

Iam still waiting for a package from Texas sent Dec.2. It was ment as a Christmas present!! Still no sign of it!!

I mailed a Christmas card to Burleson Texas and they still haven't received it! :woohoo:

This christmas I sent numerous cards to the US and England and the ones going to England all arrived withing 5 days the US ones didn't arrive for 2 weeks or more. They were all mailed the same day so I think it may have more to do with the USPS than Canada Post not that Canada Post is all that quick in it's own right LOL.

I never thought of this, but I bet they are holding the mail at the border and checking it more thoroughly. :confused3

I'm sure it's a "foreign" mail thing.

When we lived in the US local mail was like one day and out of state was 2-3. It was much faster than Canada Post ever was.

I sent a money order in October and they never did get it. I am going to hopfully get my money back from PO it was a registered item. They did an inquiry and never found it.

I sent a package to Florida last Monday and it arrived yesterday. I'm waiting for a money order I sent on Friday to arrive in Maryland! I sent it registered!

I also sent packages to England last Thursday, can't wait to see how long they take!

I sent a Christmas card to US and UK on December 2nd 2005. My friend in the UK received it on the 8th of December. My friend in the US just received hers yesterday.

my motto: when in doubt... don't use Canada Post.

Sounds like your motto should be, when in doubt...don't use USPS

Hey, I've got an idea. Maybe we should send this thread to Stephen Harper. He's supposed to be the one to help US/Canada relations. He can start with, "why once our mail hits the boarder it stays there for weeks and weeks......" :teeth: ;)
