Okay, I have a few more gifts I need to pick up for my son. (gotta even out with what his sister is getting--LOL) Anyone have any 'must-haves' for this age? So far I've picked up some spongebob legos, blueman percussion tubes, Super Mario DVD (LOVES Mario) and some magnetix. I was going to get him the BC Builders backhoe to complete his set, but it appears it's only available online and their shipping's kinda pricey. Suggestions? TIA :yay:

My son started getting into yugi oh and pokemon cards at that age...I am still not sure if he plays the actual game but he has hundreds of cards (now 8 1/2) and still plays with them non stop. Or, how about some hot wheels stuff?

My son is that age and he is in to Star Wars figures especially the transformer Star Wars ones and the Cars movie diecast cars with accessories. Also, he loves his PS2 and GBA games with his favorite being Star Wars Lego II.

I bought my son that age a Cranium superfort, Cars racetrack, a cd player with microphones (that's what he asked for), some play-doh, Cranium giggle-mask.

My 7yo has asked for the superman inflato-suit, Lego Star Wars for Gamecube, an iguana (he's not getting that, he was very upset when I told him we aren't allowed to have them), some imaginext sets, and a puppet theater plus a box of supplies to make his own puppets (pom poms, paper bags, googly eyes, etc.).

I put the Cranium giggle mask on my list a few months ago when Family Fun listed it as one of the year's best. But pointed it out to DS and he didn't seem all that interested. It's probably one of those things that he would like after actually playing with it.

Thanks for the ideas everyone...keep em coming!! :cheer2:

My DS is 7 and both this year and last it's been a Star Wars christmas for him. He's really into collecting the different clone/storm troopers, the different ships and the lego figures. Last year he was really into the light sabers. He wanted each character's light saber and loved the "build your own light saber kit. For his birthday, we got him an FX replica light saber from SharperImage.com with a $30 discount code and free shipping. That has been his favorite and has has been the "awe" of his friends.

Last year he also got Heely's shoes, Robosapien and RoboRaptor -- both huge hits.

My youngest nephew is right at that age too, we got him some junior versions of games, like junior clue and yatzee also we got him the memory game but that's more because the kid would forget his own head if it wasnt attached so that was more to help with the memory thing. We also got his some pirates of the carribean action figures.

My DS5 will be 6 in a few months. These are what he asked for/is getting:

scooter, Star Wars Lego 2, microscope, lego knights, knex, star wars guys, race track, rock em sock em robot, aircraft carrier, pirates of the caribbean megablocks set

These are the gifts from our whole family. My parents don't get out to shop and FIL sends money.

My son really likes anything Star Wars and things he can build. He also likes military, legos and imaginext items. HTH :)

My DS, just recently 6, is also really into Star Wars. We just let him watch the movies this year (I think they're really violent) and he wants everything star wars! He even wants to dress up with his sister as Luke & Leia next year for Halloween!

Anyway, he loves Lego Star Wars (it's a cute video game and not super difficult) so we got Lego Star Wars II. He wants every lego set they make, including the $300 Death Star (he's not getting it, LOL).

I also got a 3-D puzzle he asked for, and a wood building kit with a few projects. I would like to get scrapbooking supplies for him so he has something to do with all the digital pictures he takes of his lego projects. He's into art stuff so I think he'd have fun with that.

We got a few books because his reading is getting better - magic tree house and Chet Gecko (detective).

Oh, and a new scooter and a new helmet because his head is big!

AllesonWonderland, did you sense the theme here? All 6 year olds love Star Wars! :teeth:

One year I bought DS a magic and card trick set when he was about that age. He loved it. He's 13 now and still enjoys doing card tricks. As I recall it wasn't that expensive either, around $10.

Which is really odd because my boy isn't into that at all! LOL Guess I have a strange son. I do appreciate all the ideas though! I'm heading out to target this morning to get the magnetix magnadome before they're all gone, I'll look for some of y'alls suggestions.

Oh my goodness....
My almost 6 year old is into Star Wars this year too. He really really wants the star wars legos but I just think he is too young for them (the actual truth is that I don't want over 1000 pieces all over my house...shhhh) I got him a doodle dinosaur, superman laptop, some star wars figures, pirhana panic game, he asked for Cars mountain challenge, and he would like anything legos. Got him the sponge Bob pineapple legos.
Oh and he insists on a Star Wars birthday party.

My son is almost 6 and he only has one Star Wars lego ship. He couldn't put it together (couldn't do the City lego sets either), so I usually build with him and he plays with it (then they come apart and I build them again :teeth: ). He does play very well at the Star Wars Lego video games tho.

LOL - Except my son also. The neighbor boy who is also almost 6 loves it but my son has no interest. He calls it "Star Performer" not Star Wars, which is funny if you have any of the Cranium games especially Hullaballoo.

Santa will be getting my almost 6 yo son a Mega fort, Cranium Family Fun, a Hess Truck, a Fisher Price digital camera, and now he wants one or two of the Ugly Dolls. We do about 5 gifts from Santa because he gets more from his Aunt/Uncle, and extended family. I know he'll also be interested in all of the baby toys that Santa is getting for the 1 year old.

My son will be 6 in February. Do you think he'll like Hullaballoo? I bought it, but know nothing about it.

He is only mildly interested in Star Wars, and mainly only Darth Vader. He's into Teen Titans. I spent a fortune collecting those on ebay

What are Ugly Dolls?

I have a 3 month old and he's very excited about the toys she's getting. He picked out a driving toy for her, but I'm not sure she'll ever get to play with it. He's already run the battery down :teeth:

My 6-yo ds really likes Transformers, that's about all he asked for.....except an iPod and a cell phone.

All of my kids from ages 5 to 10 love Hullaballoo. It's a great game to play on a rainy day to burn off some energy. It has these little pads that you put on the floor with different pictures on them, then a speaker thing that plays music and tells them where to stand and how to get there, like crawl to so and so or sit on so and so. Then at the end it randomly says, okay if you're standing on such and such you win.
