My dd is starting to get invited to her classmates birthday parties. What is your 5 yo girl interested in or like to play with?

(My dd is going to be 5, but I think she is a bit young for her age; and also, she likes to play with dinosaurs, bugs and animals!)

My dd loves dolls, barbies, pet shop, princesses, dress up, color wonder activities, play dough, and legos. I guess it depends on the child. We recently got invited to a b-day that ended up being cancelled but I had no idea what we were going to buy this girl. She is in dd's preschool class however she's not interested in barbies, dolls, etc. I was going to buy a game or puzzle or some type of craft activity. Good luck!

My DD will be 5 in February, she loves Polly Pockets and a similar item with Disney Princesses to dress up.

She really wants a mermaid Barbie doll:

She also plays with her Kid Knex a lot. A puzzle is another idea, her friend wants to do puzzles when she comes over.

I have a DD that will be 6 in March. She likes barbies and all the tiny accessories that you can get for them. She likes to do crossword puzzles, color with markers, playdough, watercolors - pretty much any type of crafts. She won a set of beads as a door prize a while back and she plays with them alot. They aren't teany tiny but still small and they came in a case that had each type of bead seperated and it included something to string them on. She also likes outdoor stuff - bubbles, chalk, sidewalk paint, kites, pulling around her stuffed animals in her old wagon. Her and little sister (3 1/2) spend a good part of the day playing school or mom/baby.

Littlest Pet Shop, is what DD and all of her friends like. They are sooo cute, I think any little girl would like them. Polly and Puppy in my Pocket, are also big!;) DS5 took a LPS set to a birthday party, for a little girl in his class. It was the hit of the party....after opening it, her and her friends played with it for the rest of the party. The Mom said she had games planned but they weren't interested!:lmao:

Littlest Pet Shops are super popular with the 5 to 6 crowd these days!!! My dd thinks they are awesome! My dd also love dolls, doll clothes, and books.

My dd will be 5 next week. She loves anything "Hannah Montana", Barbies, and any of the little craft kits that make things like bead bracelets, etc...

Disney princess dolls and accessories, Barbies, My Little Ponies, dress-up, art supplies... are af ew of the things my 5YO nieces like. I have also given games, puzzles, and ColorWonder books w/ markers.

Oh yeah I forgot about Hannah Montana :rolleyes1 Webkinz are big too although I haven't started that here yet. My dd loves pet shop too and I just saw the puppy in my pocket at Walmart today...I'm sure that would be popular too!

Oooh - thanks for this thread! DS4 just got an invite to a 5 year old girl's party. I was clueless about a gift. This helps a ton!

My own DD just turned five last week, and she loves Littlest Pet Shop, Barbie, Disney Princesses, Dressing Up and acting out plays, Polly Pockets, Little People, musical instruments, leapster handheld and games, the digital art studio, and the smart cycle by fisher price and reading books...(Fancy Nancy is great!)

My dd is 5 (turned 5 in August), and she is into Littlest Pet Shop (so is all her little girl friends!), and she loves the little princess dress up dolls .

My dd will be 5 this month - anything High School Musical for her!!!

Also little pet shop or a really cute purse she would love.

My daughter is about to turn five and for the past year, I've been buying all craft type things for birthdays - stamp sets, marker sets, necklace making kits, puppet making kits. Arts and Crafts tend to be a huge hit, especially if you don't know the type of things that particular girl likes to play with. You can find a big collection of stuff at Target, Toys R Us, Crafts Stores...but we have a cute toy store near us - Learning Express - that sells lots of these things.

My dd will be 5 in April. She likes all sorts of stuff that's been mentioned - My Little Pony, Barbie, craft stuff, puzzles, dressup stuff, anything with animals, butterflies or flowers on it. She likes Hannah Montana even though she has never watched the show. She also likes fairies - Tink and any generic fairy, and of course Flower Fairies. Also ballet stuff - last year she got a Barbie ballerina music windup thing playing Swan Lake (like a music box, but no box) that she just loves.

She also has an older brother, so she also likes Pokemon, Bakugan, Star Wars, etc.
